Anyone know who would modify gear sent to them? I have some Kifaru Pouches (Vertical claymore) that I want to have MOLLE added to them. Kifaru will not do it so I thought I would find someone else.
Thanks for any ideas |

You might post pictures of exactly what you want. I'm no expert, but looking at online pictures of the vertical claymore pouch, it looks like you'd have to rip a fair amount of the stitching to get to the faces to add PALS, which would end up costing more than the value of the pouch itself.
Maybe check diytactical.com for small volume / one off gear vendors. |

they dont want to do it due to the time and expense associated with tacking intervals. All of the bartacking for Kifaru is dedicated to making PALS fields for their packs.
to give you an idea.... you'd look at 110.00 to 136.00 to modify ONE - off Pouch, bear in mind, ALL of the competent jobbers out there are not at a loss for work so your project has to contend with their existing workload 1) ship product to be modified to sewer (7.00) 2) time to inspect item, determine approach, disassemble to component level 60min - 90min at 35.00/hr (low priority) (35.00-52.50) 3) approximate match color measure out cut & prep webbing 15min - 30min (8.75-17.50) 4) stitch down webbing in place 45min (26.25) 5) reassemble 45min (26.25) 6) ship back (7.00) the inspection time is the long pull here in that with kifaru pouches, they line the interior with 420 packcloth IMO adds to complexity, but it all lends itself to ensuring that the material does not bunch up when you resew it. |

Try Tactical Tailor. They've made several custom items for me and did so for great prices. I had a velcro/snap to molle conversion panel made that was large enough to cover half of my vest for 35 plus shipping. They also added molle webbing to my new groin protector cover for 10 plus shipping. Turn around time was two weeks. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| Thanks Egg, that's pretty high dollar...I just wonder where the guy I got the pouches from had it done, I have emailed him but got no response yet. The look of the modified one (from a novice perspective) looks just like factory, same color thread spacing on the stitches etc.. But, Mel told me they don't do it and Mel is a stand up guy.. |

Never thought of that aspect... I one that was already done I bought from someone, Kifaru says they won't do it.. It's an excellent idea as the Kifaru Mid-length long pockets are perfect they don't make them with MALICE nor the Claymore in a vertical configuration.. http://www.kifaruforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=4236&d=1288106989 http://www.kifaruforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=4237&d=1288106991 Quoted:

I understand where your coming from, the guy I got the pouch from is originally from europe and had it done over there, so his source is out. Another guy I spoke with that the original owner recommended wanted $40.00 bucks to modify the Kifaru G2 Claymores (they have lining and pockets in them) So at $46.00 for the pouch and $40.00 to mod it I was hoping for a cheaper solution but I might just go that way after all, the Kifaru pouches are great quality with the lining and inner pockets...
So I guess $86.00 for a custom lined and pocketed pouch isn't that bad ??? |

They have a pouch that is real close in size 11x5x2, so I asked if they could make it in Foliage and 12x7x4...waiting to hear from them before I drop the money on the Emdom pouches @ $109.00 each... |

TT just got back to me, they can make what I want for $52.50 each, it's what I am going with You wont regret it. They are solid people making solid gear. I've been most impressed with them and Diamondback Tactical. I'll try and post pics of the items I've had TT make for me later. |

Don't understand your question...
When you say will "it" double the utility of the pouch what do you mean by "it" If you you are referencing having PALS webbing on the pouches....then yes... The Kifaru pouch in the original thread are outstanding pouches (lined etc) but some of them do not mount with MALICE clips... SO that is what I need... But anyway Tactical Tailor is making me custom pouches (not modifying my Kifaru) which will do the trick... |
