I have two GenII FastMags on my warbelt and they haven't given me any trouble until today. I was trying to perform a mag change and the mag was nearly seized up in the FastMag. I looked inside for debris and they look fine. It felt as is it was glued in before I finally got it out (while on the clock and the par time had expired )

I can't figure out what happened. Anyone else have similar trouble with them?  There's only one band on them and they've given me no trouble in the past.

Never heard of that issue. Have you tried moving the band up or down to change the tension? There are three places where the band can go, they come with it in the middle position, play around with that and see if it helps. I have been using mine for quite a whuile with absolutely zero issues.
Otherwise you might have some debris in the fulcrum, try that next.

I'm not familiar with the fastmag setup, but I have some kydex mag holders that are very picky on how you drawn them. Maybe you were stressed and were yanking a little off of straight? Does that even effect them? IE pulling from different angles?

I thought for the fast mags you had to twist them slighty?

After trying them 87 times each today theres only two things I can come up with.  One is that I stored the mags in them for at least a month before using them.  Something must have bound that one up.  I've cleaned it (soap & water) and reinserted the mag.  I'll have to leave it in for a few weeks to see if I can replicate it.  I've never had any trouble with them in the past withdrawing a mag.  Maybe the angle was a bit different because I was wearing my belt over a coat.   I don't really know.   I've never had to twist magazines to remove them before.

The second guess is there is a large washer on the bottom of the FastMag that retains the MOLLE mounting strap.  The washer is blackened and there is a few shiny spots that are missing color.  I think maybe, *it's a long shot*, that the magazine's feed lip got caught under the washer.  It's a long, long shot and I haven't been able to replicate it.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll just have to give it some time and see how easy it is to get the mag out.  Never had trouble before and it rattled me pretty good.  Nothing like trusting your gear and having something go screwy.

Random possibility is that some solvent may have gotten in there from either cleaning you mag or the gun itself.  Fast Mags are pretty durable, but some solvents like gun scrubber or break cleaner may soften the surface slightly.

Side note: I took mine off my belt as I found a hip draw and that slight twist mentioned above was sometimes cumbersome and my whole belt would lift as the mag was releasing... I switched to Esstac Wedge/KYWI singles for the belt.

It could be you just had a visit from the "match monkey"  He came out to mess with you.

I have 4 of them and have not had any problems. I don't leave mags in them for long periods though.

Monkey?  It was at least a chimp  It seriously rattled me.  I thought I knew my gear.

I have left mags in mine for a couple months at a time and never had any issues at all with drawing the mags, so I have no clue what your problem would be but I doubt it was caused by leaving them in there for a month.  Just out of curiosity, what brand mags were you using?  Some mags cause me to adjust where I have the tension band due to how they fit.

USGI - I'm unsure of brand, I installed magpul L plates on the bottom of them because I often train over concrete and being in NY, the mags a pre-ban.

I have one on my war belt.  It never gave me trouble except for a Magpul Dynamics Carbine 2 class early this summer.  It dumped the mag two out of two times during the 100 yard dash before a stress shoot.  It probably got bumped out from making contact with a mag pouch on my vest (I was trying a new one).  This definitely shook my confidence in the fastmag.  I moved the rubber band from the low position to the high position before an EAG Tactical Class later in the summer with the hope that it would fix the problem.  I went back to my regular vest (RBAV-SF) without issue during the class and haven't had an issue since.
