fellers,

I emailed Mr. WIllis a week ago and have yet to receive a response. I assume they are busy but I really want to get one of his Cobra Belts but had a few questions of my own. So I ask ya'll for any other ways to contact him.

Also maybe you can answer:

What size would be appropriate to buy if I wear 32" jeans that fit slightly loose?

Is there much room for adjustment for when I carry IWB or OWB?

Is this a very good Cobra belt or are the better options?

Thanks for any and all ya'll's help in advance.

You  might try OSOE on facebook, if you have it... Or on GOTX forum...

He is a very busy man..... sometimes I wonder if he gets any sleep.... He's always in the shop!

OSOE gear is some of the best out there.

If you can get it.  There are numerous instances of people paying for gear and not receiving it, or receiving it a year or more later.

Do some research and then decide.

It's worth every penny paid, if you get it.

If you just want a belt with a Cobra buckle and don't HAVE to go with OSOE, check out Ares Gear, they have two different versions.

I have received custom work from John before. He Delivers. If you are worried about time or if he will deliver tacticalresponsegear.com is a stocking dealer. If they show it in stock you will get it.
Go OSOE or Go Home.

Is it possible that at the time he couldn't get a black cobra buckle?

I would assume that was the case, especially considering one of the current pics on his website is of an OD belt with a  black cobra buckle.

this was back around '07 or '08, the website advertised the OD ones with tan buckles and the other colors had the black buckle.

Sometimes.  Othertimes, you just lose your money because he gets years behind on your order and dodges your calls like a drifter who is a week behind on rent to his slumlord.

YMMV

OSOE has had problems with customer service in the past.  As of the past two years or so things have changed.  He moved his operations to Camden TN.  He has many sewers working for him  and is pumping out new gear every day.

He is on facebook everyday, you can try contacting him through there: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Special-Operations-Equipment/372313363858

You can order non custom gear through several distributors who stock John's gear.  OP Tactical, Tactical Response, and others.  If you custom order something from him or order directly from him through his webstore the new store policy is that your card will not be charged until your order is complete and shipped.

John has done good work for many people, and gone above and beyond what is expected of a gear manufacturer.   If you have trouble emailing him, try contacting him again through his webstore or facebook.  He his a busy guy and may have accidentally over looked your email.

I pretty much rock OSOE gear exclusively for work and personal use.  True most of my stuff has been bought used or through a distributor.  I have had no issues with OSOE and plan on buying more of their gear in the future.

As far as your questions, I rock a OSOE Cobra belt daily and will try and answer your questions:
What size would be appropriate to buy if I wear 32" jeans that fit slightly loose?.

John makes his belts so that belt size matches jean size. 32" belt = 32" jeans.

Is there much room for adjustment for when I carry IWB or OWB?

Used to wear a 34" jean with enough room for wearing my Glock 19 IWB.  Used a 34" Cobra belt.    I lost some weight and now wear 32" jeans and I still use my 34" Cobra belt.    Their is some adjustment to go smaller then stated size but most adjustment goes larger.  If you wear a 32" jean with a pistol IWB a 32" belt should be just fine.

Is this a very good Cobra belt or are the better options?

The Cobra belt is very good and and I like it a lot.  Only thing I would change is I would remove the emergency repel feature/loop.  I don't need it and proably never will.  It gets in the way of belt loops.  The only other Cobra type belt that I have used is a light weight belt with a Cobra buckle that I had made at a sew shop.

If I was to buy a new Cobra belt I would look at a Jones Cobra belt because it comes standard without the emergency repel loop and would not be a special order.

Hope this helps some.
