Hey there im a newbie to all this tact gear but def want to start training in it as soon as I can. I have been reading around trying to see what people prefer. Im looking for a chest rig hopefully to hold 6 AR mags also have a few extra pouches for various items. About 150 is the most I will be spending. Thinking of using for a SHTF situation. Also want to be able to wear a plate carrier under it of course.  If any suggestions or links to where I could find more info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

to lazy to hot link. 30 over price limit but it should fit your needs. I don't have one (so i cant personally attest to its quality, function, ect) but I plan on getting its bigger brother.

This is a "Plate Carrier" First.

If you want an all in one carrier that has built in mag pouches, then its a good choice..

Its hard to beat a Tactical Tailor MAV or 2 piece MAV with the X harness.  No financial interest, just a happy customer.

OP, I use a Tactical Tailor 1 piece MAV with a Y harness. Its quick, easy and I put a 3 mag shingle with another 2 mag shingle (I run a ready mag mod) and 2 pistol mags, dump pouch, 1st aid pouch, compass and has a velcro pouch on the panel of the MAV. You can and I will attach a hydration carrier to it.

This is my go to kit for SHTF, deployments, and ranges.

What exactly are you looking for? Do you want an all in one rig (IE for plates, soft armor etc.), just a plate carrier or a simple chest rig? Do you know if you want it to be modular or have the pouches sewn in place? I'm hitting you with a ton of questions but I don't want to recommend more, or less than you need. Let me know here or just PM me. Good luck.

Unless you wear plates it will sag in the front, at least in my experience with my Woo.  If you don't run plates I would go with a chest rig only.

Exactly..

Its a PLATE CARRIER first and foremost..

It will not work as advertised if you don't use it in the manner it was designed..

Here's a PM a member sent me about the same thing..

A while back I had a question about how my Wasatch should be working and
you told me chest rig =/= plate carrier.  I just got my stand alone
plates today, and man were you right.  Once I filled those pockets and
readjusted it, it works much, much better.  Run, jump, whatever,
everything stays where I want it.  Thank you again for the advice.

Wow what a country!

#1 - Use an item in the role for which it is designed... It works

#2 - Use an item NOT in the role for which it is designed ... It sucks and non-comprehending user groans that it does not work.  See #1

I'm waiting for your Eagle all molle chest rig to come back in stock. Being small frame 5'11" 150 lbs I have limited chest space......This looks like the way to go for three gun and Tacticle matchs....Would you agree. Or do you have a better option in mind? I'd like to keep it modular. Sorry to the op if i hi jaked your thread. I think we may have the same thing in mind though.

Nubs,
PM sent about the weesatch. I love the 'Satch series. I wore the woosatch during my whole last tour and it worked out perfectly. I got the side plate carrier, and the padded shoulders and I was very comfortable with the whole system. It's a great value on top of it all b/c the mag pouches are built in. I had enough room to carry 8 mags, my MBITR, and one or two flashbangs without having to add a single pouch. (Of course I had to carry my med kit, NVG's etc, so I did have to add some pouches).

YoteSlayer,
I love the small eagle chest rigs. I keep one in my car just in case, and on fun range days when I'm not shooting for work I use the Eagle/SKD rig. More than enough mags, and molle on the outer edges for my med kit and misc gear.

I'm thinking about selling my UCR and getting one of the Satch series. I just need to decide if I want that, with the mag pouches built in, or a PIG with the MOLLE cummerbund, that I'll have to buy rifle mag pouches for...

I dig the TAG Gladiator.  Room to run low pro with 6 mags or the ability to add to the MOLLE on the outside.  Has a hydration pouch built in to the back.  It can be found for around $150 online.

This is a $150 Blackhawk Chest Rig that we have on sale for $87.  They are very well built and hold 12 AR or 8 AK mags, have side pockets for medical gear, as well an admin pouch.  They are SOLID.

Just pick up a complete FLC set for cheap.   There will be enough pouches for you to play with to figure out what you will like in a chest rig.   Then you can go large if you feel the need to.

I bought one of these in Woodland digital from cheaper then dirt.  This is probably the best cheapo chest rig outside of the old school commie 3-cell.  Works well with AR,AK, and .308 mags.  Only thing on it that could be problematic down the road would be the cinches and buckles, but you can buy stuff like that from Tactical Tailor.  The stitching and material was better on this then the MOLLE version that they later had.

I liked it so much i wanted to order another one in OD. CTD has never gotten them back in stock ever.
