I hope that I am not starting something....But...Why don't I ever read about yall buying Dragon-Skin? It seems like the Plate carrier vest is the way you go if you buy one...Is there something wrong with Dragon-Skin that I missed?

Thanks
Steve

Its shit.

Producers supposedly lied about its specs.

It failed tests that it should have passed.

The shit that holds the plates together/on stops holding at high temperatures *Iraqi summer temps*

Seems like it could be fixed easily, but I havent of any effort to fix it.

I am by no means in the know industry wise.  Thats just what I have heard.

This is correct the epoxy they were using to hold the panes together failed in extreme hot and became non flexible and brittle in extreme cold.  No know effort has been made to fix this problem as ballistic development seems to have gone a different direction.  The Idea was great in theory the problem is the amount of motion that takes place withen the vest would wear and tear at anything holding the inserts together.  The industry seems to be heading in the direction of multicurve singular plates made from very light and strong material with a combination of liguid armor for soft armor instead.  These things are more reliable and can be intergrated in most armor carriers today instead of having to reoutfit the entire vest.

Can't wait till plates get lighter... Of course then someone will dream up round to defeat them.  Vicious cycle.

Easi armor makes hard armor that covers your whole front and side of your body.  And it is flexible.  But it costs as much as a used car.   So I will wait until it goes down in price.

The concept was cool, but it failed all tests and was proven not to work.

Dragonskin is much heavier and bulkier than traditional vests with soft armor and plates, it provides less protection, and the manufacturer lied about the NIJ certification.  DOD banned it several years ago.

IIRC the guy who runs that was also involved with the failed dragonskin production. Website also seems sketchy.

The managing director of EAS Inc.that we have hired is Allan D. Bain, and his experience spans 25 years in this industry. He is the inventor of many unique and well known technologies, such as Dragon Skin™, The X-2™, and Evo-Flex™. Mr. Bain used his industry knowledge to consult for numerous manufacture's world wide after the sale of Armor Technology Corp. to Pinnacle Armor in 2000. All aspects of development and sales are handled by Mr. Bain, and that's another advantage of having a modest facility, it's a lot easier to see what's going on as compared to a large corporation that is spread out over the size of a football field. When it's about protective gear you want that kind of oversight
.

Damn, thats heavy.
