Can anyone tell me why some multicam has more green and others have more brown? The two trousers and jacket I have are all Propper - some more green than others. Is this just luck of the draw or is there more to it? I'm trying to get my hands on a set that has more shades of brown.

depends on the material cut and where on the pattern the pant pieces were cut from

Yea some types of fabric it is printed on can make it look more dull.

The same thing would happen with the old woodland camo uniforms.  You would have to search through the rack (on base), to get a really good top/bottom match.  With the current high price of mulitcam, I would thing the QC would be a bit better though.

There are IIRC different versions out there too. I have some older MC stuff that is different shading than the newer patterns.

Well yeah

Scorpion... (to be called Multicam) did have different shading, gradients and a slightly different colorway.... but that was in 2004!

QC?  I can assure you that all multicam material used by REPUTABLE companies was sourced through DURO only, and their QC is GTG

Buy tan or coyote if you want more BROWN

It's a matter of what actual MultiCam pattern is used (yes, there are different ones). The 50/50 NYCO with NIR Technology used by the military is the original MultiCam pattern that was developed by Crye Precision. When Propper approached them to have a 65/35 Poly/Cotton version for the commercial market, they indicated that a NIR-compliant version was not necessary since the military wasn't using it at the time. The result was MultiCam VS which stands for "Visual Spectrum". This version of MultiCam was designed so it would blend in better with the environment when seen with the naked eye. It is not NIR-compliant.

As a heads up, you should know that Propper will have an ACU in 50/50 NYCO MultiCam and a FR ACU in Defender M (both with NIR techonology) available starting in late July. These will be in the original MultiCam pattern, not MultiCam VS.
