So, my B-day is coming up and the SO has asked me what I'd like this year. While my first answer is "pie", I think she's planning to buy me something too. I'm leaning more and more towards getting a better rifle case/pack than what I have now. I have several single-rifle hard cases and some soft cases as well. All of them are meant for single rifle and minimal gear storage. To boot, my favorite shooting range is a 1/3 mile hike down a narrow trail. This is always fun with a cardboard box full of supplies (targets, ammo, sidearm, etc) as well as a rifle. So, I think I'm going to ask her for a new rifle case.

The first I found that I really like was the Larue improved discreet case. However, the cost seems a bit extreme for what you get. I'd probably still ask for it but I've also read a review or two stating it really wasn't well made enough to justify the price. So, can you make some recommendations? I really like the MOLLE webbing on the inside of the rifle storage area so you can store a rifle broken down (like my 20" A2) or assembled with plenty room in the rest of the case. For me, flexibility is crucial for the case. I have ARs ranging from a 10.5" pistol to a 20" A2 clone. The CTD! MOLLE case looks pretty sweet for the price but I wonder how durable it is? Thanks for the input guys!!

I have the Larue case and I am not sure where you read that the quality is not there?  It is very nice and very flexible as far as layout goes.  I do not have experience with any other discreet cases out there.
