What are the necessities? So far I either have or will be buying the following but I'm sure there's stuff I'm missing.

Quoted: check this out.......... BOB what it should be. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=10&f=18&t=506065 boom ![]() Awesome. I searched but I guess I shouldn't have limited it to the Armory section. |
| You can get a TON of information on this site, in addition to gobs of information on the interweb. Basically, your BOB can contain the fundamental items like food, water purification, knife, etc. But is should be tailored for your specific needs and environment. I live in the south so I won't need too many cold weather related items. I also have a few different bags. One I keep in my truck, one at work. Each one with a different purpose. My work bag is set up to work in the event I have to get home without my vehicle. My truck bag is set up in the event i'm out with my family and have to get out of dodge. Check things out, post back here with some lists and pics, and the forum will help you get it ideal. |

well my threads been linked but, see imho theres 2 kinds of BOB's. the bail out bag that all the tactical super uber operators talk about and call a BOB and a BUG out bag. aka grab and run 3-5 day packs. either one IMHO should have the 3 core items to keep your ass alive just depends on how long and what you plan to do. i use a Cbak mule as my GHB/ "bail out" and all it has is ammo, water, mini kit ,comms and some cliff bars.when i travel. If i gotta "bail" out while at home or work (near my home) im tossing my rig on and rocking out if its a "shtf" it's BOB time..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmovbRpXF3E movie form of that thread. |

What will keep you alive? For nothing to ever go wrong, whether it be a 2 hour power outage or a full scale zombie invasion. Failing that, a battalion of armored troops for personal security, a medical team and portable field hospital, personal chef with 3 star mobile field kitchen, a Marine Air Group for those special occasions, several billion dollars worth of cash and precious metals, Internet Access, supplies and staff to sustain all of this and more indefinitely, and a harem of some sort. My answer is more fun, less dismissive with hints of arrogance, and is as utterly worthless to him as yours.

I think eggrolly's answer is more on the socratic side, while yours is more on the smarta$$ side. I know this as I have been a smarta$$ my while life...all 42 years of it I can remember.
Using the Socratic method encourages one to think for themselves rather than follow the heard, like most of the people here on ARFcom. The Tactical Gear section is full of "what ________ does ARFcom use?" threads. While I certainly value some of the opinions here on arfcom, for the most part, what works for the HSLD guys doesn't work for the low speed, short fat guys...of which I am one. Egg was just trying to get someone to think for themselves instead of spoon feeding... to the OP, Protus pretty much covers this idea thouroughly in his thread and in his video. You'll need to take into account your AO and your personal habits and likes/dislikes, but for the most part you can follow his lead. |
