The hot shnizzle right now is the MAGPUL MS2.  It is a convertable single point and 2-point sling.  Best of both worlds.

I started with a two point sling mounted in the classic fashion on the toe of the buttstock and the 6 o'clock under the FSB. Worked, but could be much better. I then tried moving the front mount to the 9 o'clock and while it was better, I found it lacking so I went to the flavor of the week, single point sling with a quick release and shock cord bungee built in and found that it was difficult to do anything but static shooting and static transitions..ie transitions on the move, buddy carrys, or moving into a position where I could use both hands without holding the weapon, or negotiating any obstacle course.. Shortly after, I changed to a 2 point VTAC padded sling where I use the receiver plate on the rear of the VTAC and the 9 o'clock QD pushbutton mount on my DD Omega rail. I like this setup much better than any other I have tried. I have currently been using this setup and find that it fits my needs.

Sling forum will provide you plenty of ideas.  I have single and doubles along with a few others and you can't go wrong with a good double point sling.  You'll probably end up with a pile of slings before you find the right one.

I have the Gear Sector GS-2P sling and Larry Vicker's padded sling. I like the Vickers a lot more. It is way thicker (which I like since I hardly ever wear any armor to cushion it), the adjustment pull tab is much easier to use, and there is less plastic involved with holding it together. It's just a rock solid, comfy sling.

The GS-2P isn't bad though. I like it's versatility, as it can be used on mulitple guns if you buy the adaptors and can be used as a single point sling if you have the HK hook adaptors. I'm using it on my AK right now.

3 Point slings still exist?

I like a 2 point on the left side of my rifle (I'm right handed).  My experience with 1 point slings is that you need to keep a hand on the rifle a lot more, they bounce, and when you do a transition it's easy to smack your balls.  The only real plus I can think of for a single point is that it allows you to transition from strong to weak shoulder and back when rounding a corner, shooting around a barricade, etc. but I prefer to simply lean a bit farther out.  You can do a lot from non traditional shooting positions.

2 point viking quick adjust. 3 points are too complicated and diffcult to adjust, single points go all over the place if you dont hold on to the weapon. The viking is all guys that i work with use.

Ive run a 2 point the last few years,,then went with OSOE's single bungee and aint looked back.  folks cry that the rifle moves around to much when ya run etc...well it does the no matter what sling ya have from what ive seen...i like the strecth helps ya not get hung up on shit.

I avoided single points after having to climb some ladders with one and acting a squad medic, nearly whacked a simulated casualty (live breathing guy who wouldn't have appreciated it) in the head when my rifle came swinging back around from where i put it and almost clocked him in the head.

one point with bungee on my iotv with a quick release to an adapter on the buffer tube.

2 qt sling around the fob. gets the job done.

My guns are all set up to run both 1-point and 2-point slings.
The 1-pt is something I made from an old CQB Solutions (now Specter gear) sling, sort of a combination between the MOUT and HST slings.
My 2-pt of choice is the Viking Tactics padded. For me, it was a tossup between the Vickers and Vtac. I settled on the Vtac since I run it on several different weapons and need a wider range of adjustment.

I see strengths and weaknesses in both setups. If I had to carry a gun all day then I'd go with the Vtac. For a short trip to the range I usually run the 1-point sling.

Personally I really like using a single point with one of these.

I love my three point. The only problem is I'm left handed using a right handed rifle. That is the only drawback to me. I have recently switched to the ms2 with an ASAP plate. It is almost as good as my 3 point without the problem of the ejection point being covered by my 3 point. I agree that the single point does get kind of sloppy when not in my hands but that is quickly solved by switching the ms2 to the 2 point configuration.

+1 on the OSOE single-point bungie-sling.  I was skeptical about having bungie but after running it in a bunch of classes, I think it's the only way to go

I've been running a Blue Force VCAS for quite some time and I've really been diggin' it.

A few years ago, before the VCAS, I was running the Viking Tactics 2 point.

All good options mentioned though. With the VCAS being the best.

Thats my point- for MOST range ops, the single point is sufficient. I found that in the real world, I end up doing much more than just shooting,(climbing, swimming, fast roping, breaching, running, picking up various things, first aid, searching people and things, fist fighting, etc.) and the viking does a better job for me.

These do work, and i have used them when diving, as they are good for keeping the weapon stowed and out of the way underwater. We also use these to stow shotguns so they arent swinging all over the place. The problem with using them as a primary stow that i have seen is that it takes longer to UNSTOW, and you usually dont have time to properly stow the primary in a o-shit transitional situation, which will likely force the shooter to continue the fight with that primary swinging all over on the single point. That said, to each his own.
