These are the four types I can select from. Just looking for all around boots to add to my gear. These boots are being covered, so I can select from these four only. Wanted to see if anyone had any feedback or experience, and I welcome all comments. Trying to get a set for: outdoors, training, and THE END OF THE WORLD (cough, but seriously). Any feedback I thank you for. I just wasn't sure, site unseen, which ones would hold up a long time through general use. I mean I had prior issuance from the Navy / Marine Corp (8404/000 Field Corpsman), but that was quite some time ago. Just looking for some friendly advice. |

I've never liked boots that weren't waterproof for doing anything outside. Doesn't seem like a big deal until your feet get wet and stay that way all day. I've never understood why so few boots in the "tactical" selection were waterproof. That said, I'd probably take the desert boots over the others. |

I've never understood why so few boots in the "tactical" selection were waterproof. Waterproof generally = gore-tex = hot feet in warmer weather. To the OP - what do you mean when you say these are your choices? Are you not paying? If you are spending your own money, there are some better choices out there. Of those listed, I'd probably go for the speed lace, all leather boots and spring for some good insoles (green Superfeet are my favorites). I think they'd be the most durable and best for a variety of climates. Deserts and jungles are good for mild weather, but if it's wet and/or cold you'll wish you had something else. I've never trusted boots with zippers for hard use. |

You want 2 pairs.
1 pair to be completely waterproof yet geared towards not being insanely hot 1 pair to be jungleboots with the 'drainage' system in them The reasoning here is to ask yourself before you put on either pair: What is the probability that I will be wading/stepping into water that is higher than the top of my waterproof boots? If the answer is higher than that, wear your jungleboots; your feet are going to be soaked with the waterproof boots anyways and you'll have a bitch of an uncomfortable time with them after the waterproofing is defeated. While the jungleboots won't keep your feet dry (they aernt designed to) they WILL keep your feet from being submerged in water constantly due to the drainage system in them and keeping you from getting blisters/junglefoot a hell of alot quicker. Stay away from zippers on boots. Also look into moisture wicking/quick drying socks for when you get a few minutes to air them out. |
