I did a search but it turned up nothing so I assume there are no topics on this ( who knows sometimes the search doesn't work that well here) so if someone can pull of a thread I overlooked I apologize.
For about a year I have been very interested in acquiring a plate carrier and some plates. I always assumed when I had the money I would buy an Eagle Ciras but I have recently found this piece of kit. The Diamondback Tactical Predator Gen II is what I'm considering. What draws me to it is that it appears that I can order it already outfitted with plates and soft armor. This would make the acquisation of plates and a carrier so much easier for me. I also read that this is what is issued to Army SF although I'm not certain. So does anyone wear one of these , if so what kind of feedback do you have , also how does it compare to the Ciras. Finnally pics would be awesome if you have one |

The Gen 2 Predator is what I use for SWAT entry. So far it has been a good piece of kit. It is built with SPEAR/BALCS cut soft armor panels (IIIA) in three different types. The least expensive is LTA, followed by SQVA, then QVA. The QVA, while being more expensive, offers better protection (1 inch edge-shot capability) and is lighter and thinner than the other two options. QVA is what I have. It does not come with rifle plates, but has pockets to accommodate the plates if you so choose (as I do). You can also get additional ballistic panels to protect the neck, throat, shoulders, and sides at an extra cost if you so desire.
The vest secures tightly to my body so there is no shifting and chaffing, and also is easy to remove when necessary. It is built with plenty of cushioning in the shoulders and the body so there is no unnecessary pressure on my body. This is the extent of my ability to comment on you question as I have no experience with the CIRAS. HTH |
