I'm in the market for my first fore into the world of tactical gear, I'm interested in getting a class IIIa vest that I can eventually buy rifle plates for. I'm also looking for one that has a internal hydration bladder, or pouch for a bladder. I'm not exactly sure where to start looking so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance! |

Check out Eagle:
http://www.skdtac.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=330 They make some of the best gear around. If you decide not to go with armor but want a 'vest', the tactical tailor MAV is a great option. Also, I would advise against an internal hydration system. Get the Camelbak Thermobak and put it on over the vest. The straps are low-profile. There are two reasons to not get an internal bladder that come to my mind right now: Drinking the water will change the fit of the vest, it will be tighter with a full bladder. You will have to take the entire vest off just to fill the hydration system. |

if you 'plan' on getting plates, get the plates as most vest don't really work with out the plates in them.
I have a hydration pouch mounted on mine. I like that it's all one piece that goes on and thats it, and no extra straps to deal with. now yes to refill it, I would have to take it off, but my rig is for bugging in, where I already have plenty of water stored, so I would only be drinking from it if I were "in the shit". |
