Hey guys,

I live within a couple miles of a pretty major military base so I often times get the opportunity to buy quite a few interesting "military only" type products.

A couple of days ago a friend of mine e-mailed me and said he had a couple level III bullet proof vests for sale.  I'm guessing the vests are Molle II style since he also had some accessories to go with them.

What should I know before taking a look at these?  I've wanted one for the "just in case" situation, but know next to nothing about military model vests.

He wants $50 for the vest, and $200 for the set of 2 plates.

Most of his stuff is straight back from Iraq so I'm fairly sure it's what most are wearing over there right now.

What do you guys think?

I appreciate the response, but could you elaborate?

STOLEN MILITARY ITEMS

FEDERAL OFFENSE!!!  Also, they are NOT bulletproof, just bullet resistant up to a certain caliber.

Oh, ok.  Ya, I have no connection to the military myself, so I wasn't sure how the GI's get their stuff, or if it was out of the ordinary for them to have that kind of equipment after being deployed.

Yes RUN AWAY!!!

CID is known for investigating these matters.......

Just go to the next Gun Show and purchase one from the table that has all the signs saying "Vests will be outlawed next year"........

Yeah, theyve been saying that for 10 years now......

Thanks for the info guys, glad I asked here first.  I guess I was being a little naive, it's just so common around here to see that kind of stuff that it didn't even cross my mind.

The pawn shops here are full of the stuff also, is that the same kind of deal?

HELL YES, not only can you get arrested but you will NOT get to keep the vest and will NOT get your money back!!

personally id do it for 250 for something like that

ill just assume he bought it himself untill uncle sam comes knocking at my door for it

ill be prepared to lose it if they ask for it back, i mean hell as long as its not marked us you cant tell it wasnt store bought

all i will say is if your willing to lose the money go for it

like i say id do it then give it back if i was ever asked for it, the law cant penalize people for somehting that isnt clearly marked "us government property"

People that make crime profitable for criminals, are no better than the criminals.

$250 for a ballistic vest with rifle plates = stolen.

It's so hot it's a wonder the vest isn't burnt to a crisp by now!!
