Help, need some recommendations on concealment body armor. What would you suggest, I will be in the middle east and want it for when not in uniform (in civies) and not using the IBA. Last time I was going into places I need body armor and didn’t have it. help me choose. Thanks! |
Just soft armor, or...? Kinda hard to conceal a rifle plate, but it's doable with a reasonably thin standalone. |

Level III is awfully hard to conceal. You might try getting a Level II. My vote would be for Safariland. Get that and double up the trauma packs. A vest you'll wear despite the heat is better than a level III that'll sit in your locker. Wearing a stand alone plate isn't something I would EVER do. There can be some serious injuries from that even if it does keep the round from penetrating. |
The thinnest level III on the market right now is steel, FWIW. Ceramic is thicker, and polyethylene thicker still. www.bulletproofme.com sells a carrier that looks quasi-concealable, in that it doesn't have MOLLE on the outside so it won't print that bad. With a baggy shirt you can get away with a standalone level III steel plate or 2, as it should only be about 1/4" thick. |
Point Blank also has a custom fitting program. No more S,M,L,XL. I have a IIIA that fits me perfectly, and you can't see it under most clothes. Tight T-shirts get a little iffy, but it still isnt bad. Properly fitting soft armor is key to concealment. Not threat level. |
