Hmmm. This is going to be an interesting thread. I'm curious too of your belt rig set-ups ... hope to post mine soon. BTW, good setup you have there. |
| I like the idea of using nylon duty belts such as those from Uncle Mike's, Bianchi (available in OD too), Eagle (available in OD) and Blackhawk. Fasten them to a trouser belt with the velcro/keepers and you have a very sturdy platform. Duty belts aren't flimsy to start with. But by anchoring one to trouser belt that runs through your belt loops, you suddenly have a rig that is strong and stable, even with moderate size loads. Blackhawk, Bianchi and some other companies make pouches designed specifically for those police duty belt. And of course, there's tons of quality matching duty holsters and pistol mag pouches available for these at good prices. You can save space by choosing a double or triple M-16 mag pouch that stacks the mags one behind the other, rather than than triple pouches that only hold a single mag per compartment and take up double or triple the belt space. With such a setup, just about anyone should be able to run a duty triple AR mag pouch, a pistol, two pistol mag pouch, a dump pouch, a first aid kit and still have some room left over for another pouch or two on the back of the belt. |
| Could you guys post some of your own belt rigs on this thread? i just got my chest rig how i like it and now am looking at my belt. I have ton of GI web belt so ill be using that. I like the maxpedition drop pouch that folds up. other than that im at a loss. i dont know what to do for a holster ( drop leg or not) it has to fit different autos like a G17 and 1911. if im hijacking let me know and ill kill myself. |

I prefer belt rigs Bladetech pistol and AR mag carriers with a holster (I need a better holster, I have a g-code that is fast to draw from but not strong enough and a regular Desantis) and a rolypoly, though I use the one that is one size up from the one in the first picture, I think. That one is about the size of a naglense bottle (or he folds better than me). I think the next bigger one is a better dump pouch. I have a couple of flashlight holsters but after trying to stick my surefire in my glock I decided to rethink that. |

Eagle just released a new MOLLE one. check www.triadtactical.com ![]() |
ahem, ahem... Try Here
We used to attach canteens at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions to protect organs.... I would say that unless you have a rather unshapely object or some over sized pouches you shouldnt concern your self too much. I mean how many of us commandos actually use our gear? Mine is just for pictures.

A very important warning. Even something small like a CCW pistol carried in teh small of back directly over the spine is asking to spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair. Placing pouches to either side of the spine and/or placing a 'soft' pouch in the center covering the tail bone can reduce the risk of injury. Placing a pouch with a hard nalgene bottle over the spine can hurt you but placing a pouch with a soft canteen or water bladder will protect the spine. So long as the water doesn't freeze, that is. |
ROLF I have a 34" waist. Want to talk about lack of space. Here is what I carry from right to left: 1. Key Holder 2. OC Spray 3. Safariland 070 SSIII Holster / Glock 21 4. Handcuffs 5. Baton/Flashlight loop 6. Handcuffs 7. Surefire G2Z 8. Portable Radio 9. Monadnock Expandable Baton in Roto Scabbard. 10. Streamlight M3 in Safariland Pouch. 11. Safariland Magazine pouch with 2 G21 Magazines. All leather is Safariland. Believe it or not I have tried to figure out what I could get rid of. Right about the time I figure I havent used something in awhile, I have to call on it. I haven't weighed it, but it is NOT light. Hopefully sometime soon I will get a Taser and I can dump the baton. ETA: I really wish my department hadn't shot down the suspenders. |

My belt is nothing fancy at the moment. I'd like to add a blow out kit and a Rolly Polly for a dump pouch, but otherwise I don't feel I need to much. USGI Web belt 1 Random pouch I got at a surplus store (carries some batteries, field cleaning kit, earplugs, safety glasses) 2 Blackhawk 2x20 round mag pouches 1 Galati drop leg holster with 1911 and two 8 round mags (for a total of 24 rounds) |
Hoplophile, Any chance you could break down this belt for us? regards, Ken |
That MOLLE bag on the back of yours is a great buttpack. I have one on my Eagle PC right now. When I bought the buttpack (I think they call it a "Deployment bag") I hadn't realized just how much stuff you can put in it! I got it for just a little bag and before I realized it I had put a LOT of stuff in it... I redistributed it and got rid of somethings, it wound up really being heavy on the left side!
