Something light and easy to grab, but secure enough to stay put with a little running around.

To hold 4 - 6 rifle mags. Maybe a spot for a couple pistol mags would be a nice extra, but not a must-have.

Definately DO NOT want anything vest-like, with a lot of pockets I won't use and bulk I don't need. This is just something for rifle mags to not have to fiddle with belt-mounted, and to otherwise improve on cramming in pants pockets, etc.

Any pics and/or links to manufacturers greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Allow me to make the obligatory Eagle PHUTV/SKD version recommendation.  It'll hold 4-6 AR mags with 4 pockets up front for pistol mags or lights/multitool.

Good link.  For the life of me, I don't understand the sizing of the front pistol pouches.  I know they are sized for compacts, but it would make more sense to mid size them to fit both.  G17 or 1911 mags fit fine, but there is (IMO) not quite adequate contact between the hook and loop.

I agree... that's the main reason I didn't go with this one... I was going to send it to Egg and have him Mod it but then I was spending more than I wanted for my light, basic, concealable vest....

Took a look and am leaning toward the LV3 (six mags and nothing else).

Are the pouches large enough to hold AK-74 mags?

most mods to the phutv, but bear in mind the cost for some of these mods will exceed the original cost of the rig.  Save for lids splits and lengthening, a majority require some degree of rig teardown.

Brassburn
once you start building pockets to accommodate multiple magazine sizes, the price begins to increase.  the UTV in its original incarnation was designed around the M4/Gl19 package.

In the middle of building a low profile, light rig myself.  Going with the same thing I have for my heavy rig, a 2pc TT MAV.  You can make it the way you want with what you want.  Think mine run about $120 with xharness, MAV, 3 mag pouches, mini rollypolly, small util pouch, and some "flashlight" pockets I got at the PX for mags.  Best of luck.

Understood, but I submit that lengthening the lids perhaps 1-1.5" and making the bodies for the pistol pouches maybe 1-1.5" again taller (or whatever the correct ratio of body to lid would be appropriate) would still fit the G19 or similar mag just fine without compromising draw or access and do a much better job at riding full size mags at the same time.  I can't see that adding any significant amount of cost to the base rig.

Perhaps Joe will have something like this done on his next round of "SKD version" Universals.

I'm getting something similar to this by Tactical Tailor. I think I'll like the padded shoulder section ("X harness"). I've got trouble from an old muscle scar between my neck and shoulder. Not sure how much issue the rig will be, but figured the padding would probably only help.

Mine will be in coyote, solid across the front (no middle buckles), and with pouches sized for AK mags.

Spectergear It will hold 30 round Ak mags too. And it can have pistol mags added to it.

Unless you want to go custom I second the TT 2 piece MAV.

Get the x-harness, you'll be glad you did!

Egg = eggroll. He is a gearmaker that puts out some good shit under the name EGL. The best place to find him AFAIK is on Yeager's getoffthex forum.
