LF please delete "out of the mouth comes the aboundance of the heart"-Jesus I think we can all learn from this |
I guess thats where the rubber meets the road. Besides, they threw a mean ass party at SHOT show! ![]() But what happened in Vega$................................. Damn, that was a good party, huh Ed??? |
|
hey Freakzilla before you get yourself too much into a wad, do realize that there are other vendors who sell HSGI gear who'll gladly serve your needs. That being so, it was impolitic of YOU or ask/press the issue. before you suppose anything, realize that you are not in possession of either backstory - leave it that. BTW, before your jump to conclusions, I am on very good terms with Gene and am a mod at LF forums. Be well, EGG |
stays in vegas... but shi* will need to invest in some industrial airconditioners next time! |
As a former employee of Lightfighter, and an acquaintance of Gene at HSGI, I know the story but am not at liberty to discuss the particulars. You obviously don't know the whole story and like Eggroll, I'll leave it at that. Jeremy |
Here's a news flash for ya hero... why would you expect it to be ok to talk shit about a guy and a topic you know nothing about on HIS web site paid for my His DIME!!!! You act like it's a public forum and anyone can say and do as they please with out any disregard to the guy who pays for it. Your bullshit post is full of halftruths and second hand information. your the kind of guy we try to run out over there. Did you have the balls to call the " tactical fatass cashier" that to his face?? Your a real piece of work. I'm sure Brad will not go Chapter 11 from your lack of business. |
|
The starter of this thread is a man with zero awareness of how the real world works. In the real world, when you sell quality products for a good price, people buy them. Occasionally, this means that you will be out of stock. When you sell things faster than the manufacturer can supply them, you will be harrassed by people like the thread starter for not having them in stock every waking second of every single day of your life. As for why Brad doesn't stock HSGI, who cares? How is the backstory pertinent to your utter lack of tact, decency, or common sense? What do you gain from calling someone a "'tactical' fatass cashier"? How does it add to your argument that the people at LF are a bunch of assholes? How on Earth do you imagine that your post will garner your cause support? I've had my beefs with Brad before. I've been mad at the LF crew. Brad has gotten mad at me and my crew, I'm sure. Neither of us has ever resorted to the sort of wanton name-calling and childish unprofessionalism which has been displayed here. You do realize that Brad is completely reachable most of the time, and that you can take your issues up with the boss, don't you? Or do you just like to bitch and moan to the world, rather than solve your problems yourself? |
|
Had a similar experience w/ Lightfighter. Read off a list of my needs, the guy on the phone responded w/ "I'm not sure what I have, I can mail you whats in stock & backorder rest". I just purchase my gear @ other places now. No loss to anybody I'm sure. I'm glad to see they take care of our soldiers. -Justin |

My name is Brad Nelson. I own and operate Lightfighter Tactical, inc. It is nice to meet you, what was your name again? Gene Higdon, the owner and operator of HSGI and I had an irreconcilable difference of opinion. I didn't like the way that he did some things and he didn't lke the way I did some things. I am sure you could get a day long debate over which one of us 'really' severed the business relationship and which one of us just 'thinks' they did. I know what I think happened. Now, onto my Tactical fatass cashier -- his name is Roger. I am sure that he would like to have the opportunity to meet you again so you can discuss your opinion of him. Can you come back on Saturday? As for that big metal hog leg that he likes to carry around, which kind of gun should he carry at work? What kind of gun is approrpiate for the manager of a class III gunstore? I prefer that he not perform his role in the store unarmed and I don't think he has any other sidearms. Perhaps if you offer your opinion loudly enough on the internet, he might see the error of his ways and put on something a little more suitable for your next visit. He probably shouldn't be calling people names like asshole, but I don't think you should talking shit about him on the internet -- I guess that makes you 'even'? Now, the real meat and potatoes of this thread -- there are two dynamics that play into your store visit. One is that we get busy. Real busy and run out of things. I am sorry for that in the stores and I am sorry for that on the internet. Someday, I hope to grow larger than a young small business and be able to stock to a level that would never have to be out of anything ever again. Someday if I keep working real hard, it will happen. As for the second dynamic, you might NEVER find all of the things that we sell on our internet website in stock at either of our two stores -- soldiers that comprise the core of our walk-in business buy different things than the core of our online business. Trying to stock everything leaves alot of things that never sell (which means that I don't have power to get more of the things that people really do want). That leads to more of these threads. |
| these internet forums provide us with alot of imformation on products we wish to buy. it also gives us an opportunity to interact with potential vendors. i do business almost excusivly with good people who i believe deserve my hard earned dollar. Denny, Grant, Wes, Chris(Eagle), Rich(SoTech) and Brad. to name a few. i understand supply and demand and will always go to these people first. Lightfighter gives excellent customer service and Brad is stand up guy who is well respected here and deserves an apology for your sh*t slinen'. |
Well this is the second time I have seen Brad respond to shit talking on this site and I give the man a lot of respect for taking it on the chin and still acting like a man, instead of blaming the guys he buys from, blaming things beyond his control, and resorting to insults and whining. |
good post Brad. who cares why Brad and Gene don't get along? Not me. Gene makes GREAT gear. His people there were very helpful in hooking me up with the gear I wanted when I wanted it. Lightfighter.com apparently is in the process of real, or near real-time inventory for their website. I have contended for over a year now that 99% of the complaints about LF will simply go away if people understand what products are in stock and what are not in stock at any one time. I learn lots of good info on the LF forums and visit there regularly. It's good that LF is out there, filling the market's needs. I will shop at LF again, however, when the stock issue is resolved. I just don't have the patience for endless B.O.s. |
Yes! Annoying idiots like you! w00t! I think one of the most important benefits of this site is sharing info about companies that give bad service. It allows the members here to make informed decisions about where to take their business, rather than get dazzled by some moron with a slick website, an empty warehouse, and a dumb broad who can't put the right item in the box. |
+1 Same story here....Got everything I needed shipped to me in country, all via one simple email containing my needed items and a phone number for them to call the g/f back in the States for the CC #....... 1 email = items in hand in 4 weeks..... |
|
Im glad that Lightfighter "takes care of the troops" oversees, as some of you say oh, wait a second, I am a troop, does this mean I have to wait to get shipped to iraq before I get taken care of? brad, I have seen the guy, and honestly i dont think he wants none, that is, unless he is a super-secret mall ninja ![]() |
|
Just give everyone involved a chance to open their mouth and you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure out whats going on. ![]() ![]() ![]() Let us know what happens when you go back and flex your stuff at the store. |
|
Well, I guess it's been a solid month-and-a-half since we've seen a "I Hate Lightfighter" thread. As usual I will stick up for Brad and all the other members on the lightfighter site. Those guys have been nothing but helpful to me over the past 6 months, even when I ran my mouth and got put in my place, (thanks DZ.) I have learned a bunch of stuff about things I never knew existed. Not being a HSLD or BTDT guy, it still feels nice to be accepted by them. I refer my friends who are soldiers that are deployed or being deployed to Lightfighter all the time, they have had nothing but positive things to say. They are out there getting the job done, what did you do today? There is a wealth of info on that site as well as quality gear. Like I said in my last post to stick up for them. If you are a soldier who is deployed, then fine, it's OK to whine about stuff that's not in stock but if you are just looking for shit to wear around the house and pretend you are Rainbow 6, then go shop somewhere else that can accomodate you. The real world is a pain in the ass, but we all have to live there man. |
|
My problem with the original post is NOT that he was complaining, but rather, the manner in which he did so. There's no reason to get mad at him for voicing his opinion. I'm just unhappy with the WAY he went about it. Rather than attempt to rectify the situation through normal means, such as calling or emailing the source of the problem, he chose to use childish name-calling and personal attacks. Instead of stating his case in a rational and thought-out manner, he used childish name-calling and personal attacks. I don't care that he lets other people know of his experiences with businesses. I care that he acted in a manner inconsistent with what I consider normal, mature adult behavior, and did so publicly in an attempt to ruin the reputation of another. This thread was not started to fix the situation, it was started in order to get revenge for however the starter thought he was wronged. |
What in the hell is wrong with you? Brad has clearly stated why certain items are out of stock? Maybe you missed it, but there is a WAR going on at the moment. Do you have to be such an arrogant and rude ****? Are you perfect? Have you ever made a mistake in your life? I cannot stand it when people talk such crap on the internet. If you don't have the balls to say it to a mans face, don't bother posting it on the internet. |
| I'm bored watching the yankees lose so I'll jump in. I inherited a Lightfighter assault pack when we took over the mission in the UAE in 2002. By the names written inside I was the fourth owner and the pack was going on 3 years old. I beat the crap out of that pack for almost a year using it as a boat bag and carrying all my crap back and forth to our AO. I did manage to break one buckle when I had it strapped to a .50 mount and the boat took a roll and the mount swung and pinched the buckle. While we were in the UAE our EOD team had some real cool EOD packs from Lightfighter and I made a mental note to check them out. When it looked like we were going to get extended for another full year, I ordered one on-line and got a confirmation that it was back-ordered with no firm date in sight. When were told that we were going home, I kinda forgot about it. When we turned over the mission, I asked my relief if he wanted my assault pack he said no. I brought it home with me. Once I got home, I called Lightfighter to see if I could get a replacement buckle for the broken one and to ask about my EOD pack. I was told that the pack should be shipped within a week and that a new buckle would get tucked in with it. OK, so I didn't get to use the pack in the Middle East. I still got it, it's a great pack AND I got a new buckle for my assault pack. Lightfighter ISN'T BH and they provide the absolute best service that they possibly can. Will I order again ? Sure, ask me next year when my unit goes back over. |
|
I will have to agree here- the only time I have ordered from LF, they were out of stock on a common item. I also get pretty pissed at the "tactical fat" cashier types that seem to prowl the tactical market. Seriously, put down the doughnut and knock out some sit ups. |
|
I know Gene personally, he is a stand up dude; friendly and always helpful. He's done some gear for me in the past and it is always top notch work. May not be the fastest or look the best, but it holds up. Just watch out if you stop in the shop, cause Gene will talk all day long about gear if you let him! Good dude! I tried giving Lightfighter one m,ore chance and placed an order a while back. After several months with no word, I emailed an inquiry. A week or so later they replied and told me they still didn't have any in stock. Strike three, I canceled again and will never order again. |
|
I don't understand why people don't call first to find out if their desired item is in stock. It seems to me that that simple act would save so many people so much trouble. It doesn't matter from whom you order. If you order from Botach, SKD, Lightfighter, Galls, Practical Tactical, or Joe Schmoe, you should get in the habit of calling first to see if it's in stock. If it's not, and you need it in a hurry, find somewhere else to get it. That's a simple concept to me, but I guess it's hard for some people to understand. The other nice thing about Lightfighter is that they don't charge your credit card until all your gear comes in and ships. So really, you're not out anything until then. Between those two things, there's really no reason in general that anyone should be pissed about things being out of stock. |
I don't see why a company that is one of the biggies in the business and seems to have major problems with items on backorder can't figure out how to set their otherwise fine website and web-ordering system up so as to reflect if an item is in stock. Many smaller companies have figured this out. As a consumer, I make the valid assumption that if something is listed for sale, it is in stock ready to ship unless otherwise marked. Either list it as out of stock/backorder or don't list it. How hard is that? ETA: Plus it's hard to call when you are on an LHD cruising East throguh the Med as I experienced on my second order attempt. |
The idea is fantastic to list inventory status online. I have been wanting to be able to do it for a couple of years. It does, however, pose a few logistical problems that often might go overlooked until you really study the issue -- believe me when I tell you that I have! Some folks like to make it sound like this entire industry is squared away and that Lightfighter is somehow slagging ass behind because we don't do this yet -- that isn't true and it isn't fair. There aren't many competitors that list stock online and there are fewer yet that can do it in real-time. We are going to be able to do it this year. To make it work, it is more complicated than just changing the website whenever you sell something. It has got to be done systematically by the website/inventory software itself or it won't be reliable, it won't be realistic, and it won't be usable. How hard is that? $80,000. That is how much I just spent on software to do it. That might sound like a ton of money to some (it sure as hell sounds like a ton of money to me) or it might sound like 'nothing' to those that have themselves convinced that we are some sort of gimunguous company that is oblivious to our customers needs and concerns. We're not. The fact of the matter, though, is that this is a lot of cash for a small business and working myself to a level where I can afford to do it is a great feeling. Because all of the awesome employees we have here work so hard to make things happen, we have come as far as we have in a very short time; but there is a lot of work to do and a lot of things for me to learn before we are anything close to 'one of the biggies'. Please don't forget that we are still a young upstart in this industry and only three years ago, I was still just a guy selling gear out of my Pontiac on active duty at Fort Campbell. |
|
Geez, $80k? Ouch, I didn't realize the software would cost that. But, I would bet your business will increase quite a bit once it is up and running full steam. It's not hard to call and check inventory, but the convenience of just being able to make a couple of clicks to see if you have it in stock and then order it right there with out dealing with anyone or being on hold for any amount of time is huge to many consumers. |
| Brad, interesting information! I never doubted you and your staff were good people and working on fixing the issues. But, I've had bad luck each time I'vce trieed to order. Perhaps I'll reconsider and try back in the future and things willl go more smoothly. Plus, I'll call to make sure you have the item in stock. Good luck with your improvements. |
I work for a software company...$80,000 for a software license is real money but it's not out of line with reality. The general public looks at software based on what Windows costs to upgrade and they still have sticker shock. We recently paid over $300,000 to play catch up with our Microsoft applications. I can see where a fairly robust inventory control database package wouild cost and more importantly be worth $80K. Now that you bought it, the real fun begins, inputting all the data and the worst part of all, keeping it up to date. |
|
$80K would buy a lot of inventory and hire a new employee v.s. a piece of software that would require constant maintenance and more personnel for dubious returns. Oh, the joys of owning&running a small business. $80K just to silence one <<CoC 6.) Repeatedly attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response >> that is trying to smear your reputation. If <<CoC 6.) Repeatedly attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response >> doesn't like Lightfighter, then they can get on eBay to get all the finest cheapest ChiComCrap they want. The wonders of the free market system. My 2¢, wganz ¶ |

LightFighter, I posted a thread regarding my experience with your company. I am ashamed to admit that your demeanor has been much more mature, articulate and professional than mine. While I probably won't be a future cusomer of yours, I wish you luck and success with your business. I wish all online dealers would take a page from your book when it comes to fielding HEAT rounds from customers. ...Sappers IN! |
I too have a bad experience. I placed about 3 orders for different items over 3 months and spent a few hundred dollars. Not only was most of it back ordered but they charged me shipping multiple times as the items became available. I can understand being back ordered which is fine, as long as they take care of our boys in the sand box first, but getting charged for shipping 3 times for 4 items was just wrong. Prior to this order the samething happened. I was getting charged 21 bux for 4 small items that I ordered at the same time and came a 3 different shippments. Nevertheless, I e-mailed them and about a month later when the last of their products came there was no shipping charge. I do like their products, but service isnt their best quality. |
Well then it should say that under each item before you click the BUY button! Most people expect a visible clue if an item is out of stock. I have ordered from them twice, and both times had to email them to find out the status of my order only for them to say "Sorry, item is out of stock and backordered". That is very irritating no matter how you look at it. |
