Wait, i used to have one. I think i ran into this once. (ah, crap, let me think)
You took the stock off to replace the spring, right? Is there a small inlet in the stock, or the retaining plate? Looks like the letter U. That relief cut is for the very back end of the spring guide, in an FAL you would call it the "rat tail". If you re-assembled it even just a touch out of place, or rotated a few degrees, the bolt cannot recoil all the way back. Thus it will not disconnect and reset for the next shot. It might give the symptoms you describe. It's been a while since i got rid of that gun, i don't remember exactly. Look at the very back part of the spring guide channel and see if that's it. |
| There are a great many things that can go wrong with this model, but I believe most of your problems are being caused by the interface (or lack thereof) of the action spring plunger with the "disconnector tab thingy" protruding from the top rear of the trigger group. You will notice with the trigger group removed that it must be pushed forward to allow firing. The action spring plunger is what pushes it forward. If it isn't quite forward enough, it will drag. This can cause light hammer strikes. So can a weak hammer spring, gunk, etc. Replace the action spring if it isn't pushing hard enough. It should have enough force to trip that completely even when the gun is reasonably dirty. |
