I have an old 870P with the factory pistol grip/folding stock.

I've seen a few pictures of folks who have hard mounted a shell holder to the buttstock (like this one).

Does anyone have a run down on what parts you used?

Hey! that's mine!

It was actually done as a bit of a joke between myself and a friend of mine.  We had this thing about trying to one up each other in silly stuff like how many rounds can we carry on a shotgun.

I don't remember who made the shell holder attached to the folder.  The thing was put together about 20 years ago.  Anyways the shell holder was meant to be attached to the side of a regular buttstock.  It fit the width of the folder so I drilled thru it and attached it with some small bolts and nuts.

Getting the folder to work with the side saddle was an interesting experiment though.  I took the metal plate off the back of it and cut it down so the folder would fit between the receiver and the plastic part that actually holds the shells.

Tell me about the shell caddie you installed on the but stock arm.

I'll dig it out tomorrow and see if there is any markings on it that ID the manufacturer, but like I mentioned in my post above it was done a while ago.

I don't want to drill my factory folding stock.  That's an expensive stock to be putting holes in.

After looking at it I'm still not sure.  It may have been ATI or at least it's pretty much the same thing.

If you don't want to drill your stock it should be pretty easy to attach it. Just get a small metal plate, drill some holes through the caddie and the plate that match up with the precut holes in the stock. put caddie on one side and the plate on the other side of the stock.  When you tighten the bolts/nuts it should hold fine.

I paid around $50 when I bought it, but no if I paid what they currently go for now I wouldn't have done it that way.

It's actually my least favorite stock I've ever had on a shotgun, but they look neat!

Those Velcro cards should work. And they won't leave a mark if you want to remove them.
