I just ordered a Beretta 1301 with a 24" barrel, need some advise/links to chokes for sale. What is the highest chokes I can get and shoot slugs reliably? Also I would like 1 extra full or Turkey choke.
Thanks for the help |

Briley, Carlson's, Ballistic Specialties, Trulock, etc., all make quality chokes for your Beretta.
What chokes came with your 1301? I assume the standard Beretta Mobil Chokes of IC, Mod and Full. You might want to pattern those first and see how they do with your slug of choice. IC and Mod are typically the chokes of preference for slugs. |

Otherwise everything Bud told you is spot on |

Most shotguns shoot ordinary Foster type slugs best with Improved Cylinder choke. But, you will have to try various combos of slugs and chokes to verify that. I know, this is not much help, but shotgun barrels and chokes and various slugs combos do not all fit the same general rules. Brenneke slugs tend to be the most accurate, at least for me.
I get best results in several different shotguns with Improved Cylinder barrels and Brenneke slugs. Tight chokes and slugs are usually a bad idea. However there are screw in chokes that are rifled, that allow you to shoot Sabot type slugs. I have no experience with them. Reports are that such Sabot type slugs do stabilize well with rifled choke tubes and shoot better than Foster type slugs, but are not as accurate as with a dedicated slug barrel that is rifled its entire length. |
