I've been looking for a few weeks now, and have came up short in finding what I'm looking for ....... thus I'm hoping someone here might have a lead on what I'm looking for.  Either a website or a local store that you might have seen one in.

I'm looking for a barrel to fit a Winchester 1300 Field;
- 18" or 22" barrel
- threaded for WinChokes
- needs to fit a standard/field magazine tube
- prefer the vent rib over a iron sight version

Basically I've got this gun in a 28" Field and I'm wanting a shorter barrel for turkey hunting, hog hunting, deer drives and home defense.  Sadly the Defender 18" barrel will not fit without upgrading the magazine tube to the longer version.  My drawback to converting to the longer tube is I still want to be able to use the 28" barrel for the occassional wing shooting for 'old times sake'.

I've also toyed with the idea of buying a second 28" barrel and having it cut down and re-threaded for chokes ...... but IDK if the barrel would have enough 'meat' to it to have this done since I'd want it cut down to 18"-20".

I also wouldn't pass up a good rifled cantilever barrel ...... however I'd like to get that 'turkey' barrel first before investing too much in this project.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Oh yea ...... 12ga.  Just noticed I forgot to mention that.

And I'm not really looking for barrels that cost so much that I might as well buy an entire gun.

Again, thanks!

I can't help directly, but I would think that having a barrel cut down would be the easiest, from what you've said.  Might not be the cheapest route by the time you've had the work done, but then again, if what you want isn't available...

Maybe you could contact someone with experience in this sort of work, and maybe they could tell you if that barrel would have the proper dimensions for installing choke tubes once cut down.

Mike Orlen might have that experience, or maybe you could just measure your current barrel to see.

OP-
I have a vent rib barrel that would suit your needs.
Was set up for exactly those needs.
Has a Tritium front bead for HD, but also has removable fiber rifle sights.
Only thing is you would have to get it threaded for chokes. Guncat on the this board can do it for you. IM if interested.

ETA-this fits the standard shorter mag tube, not the defender. and the walls of the bbl are definitely thick enough to be threaded. length is @ 20"

Thanks for the responses guys.

Since this post, I've also found another gun store that has contacts to companies that I don't who basically buy old guns just to resell the parts ..... thus they are checking around for a barrel too.

Ima' .... I'll keep that in mind.  I got a feeling that cutting and choking a long vent rib barrel is probably going to be my only option to get exactly what I'm wanting too.

Salty' .... thanks for the offer.  Mine is the standard/hunting/4 shell version.  I would consider converting it, but I know I'll still need this gun as a backup during waterfowl season ..... thus not wanting to have to plug such a long tube.  Some of my buddies that I hunt with are actually the Green Jeans, I can just imagine the smack talk.

80's ..... that barrel puzzles me due to the combination of vent rib, iron sights and not threaded for choke tubes.
I'm trying to thing of the possibilities of what it could be, thus is it;
- an older fixed choke turkey barrel???
- a smooth bore slug barrel???
- a longer barrel that was cut down and just never threaded afterwards???

Your last guess is correct. Cylinder bore.

80's ....... if I was betting on 1 of the 3, that was the 1 I was figured it would most likely be.

Well today was a great day (though work sux'd), so let me say this ........ my wife is FREAKING AWESOME!
I got a text from her today with a link to another website .... and pic's .... with the words "Happy Valentines Day".
Apparently she found a 1300 'Turkey' barrel that is hardly even used, 21" (I figure it's really 22"), non-camo, vent rib, bead sight and WinChoke ............. basically EXACTLY what I was looking for since my gun is blued.

Thanks to everyone for the input and searching.

Now it's time to start planning on some turkey load testing ....... as well as coyote and hog.

Thanks dog' ...... but as mentioned in my post just above yours, my wife lucked up and found me a barrel.  As far as those eBay barrels were concerned ..... they were 22" versions, but they were either smoothbore slug barrels or rifled barrels but with iron sights.  I was wanting a vent rib w/WinChoke (Turkey barrel) or a rifled cantilever (scoped, deer slug barrel).

Speaking of the 22" Vent Rib Turkey ........ it arrived yesterday!  And D@/\/\n it's sexy!!!!!  Can't wait to pattern it and put it to work.  Turkey season will be here before you know it.

Thanks to everyone for the input!

Updates his barrels everyday and gets tons of good deals, seriously he has a stock of about 1800+ different barrels.
