I'm trying to get the folding stock off of the pistol grip so I can replace the grip plug insert. I have no idea how to get it off. The stock is partially covering the top screw and I can't get it off.

Please post of pic. It has been a long time since I detailed my spas 12. I don't have it anymore, but I recall that there is a pin you need to remove, not a screw. Like I said, it has been awhile and I could be wrong.

I had this same problem, and fixing it will depend on what kind of folding stock variant you have.
Most of the folding stocks were riveted into place and you'd have to drill out the rivet, but I've heard about some (never actually seen one) that used a C-clip, and those are removable. I assume if you have that kind you'd have fixed it by now.
I was able to use a skinny screwdriver to turn the top screw on mine a little even with the stock still on, and with the other two screws removed it opened up enough of a gap I could get the old grip plug bits out and slide in the new one. Of course, if you ever need to replace the top sling attachment ring you'll have to figure out how to actually take the stock off.
Hope this helps!
