I have a nice old Auto5 that I just don't use much. For the last year or so my eye has been out for the right double barrel to SBS, but what I want and what I am willing to spend for a host gun don't seem to line up.

So, back to the Browning, it should be fun. This would be my fourth form 1 so I have that process down. First NFA shotgun, likely only. Do these have any issues running with a shorter barrel, say 12 to 14"

On the barrel, obviously that is a ways out, but a quick google shows that used barrels sell for what a whole shotgun sold for a few years ago. Any advice? It would never be used to shoot steel.

I'd have the short barrel engraved so the gun could be returned to title 1 status without scars.

Advice before I fill out the forms?

IIRC a member here has an SBS A5.

Everything I've read seems to indicate you don't want to go too short, as the recoil system needs chamber pressure in it's performance envelope to operate reliable.   Isn't that around 14"?
