I'll try to keep this short. I had a +6 on my 1100 that I shoot for 3 gun. It's at least 5-6 years old and been banged in the can a lot. Well I read the Kool aid about removing the clamp and did. The tube broke off, I called Nordic and ordered another, my bad, it was old but I liked it.
I asked the lady on the order line about the clamp, she told me to hang on and talk to (I am so sorry I didn't get his name, it's either Rainy or probably Randy). I talked to him for a long while about all sorts of shotgun issues (Benelli, skeet) and he told me I had the old tube and that he was sending me a new style tube, spring and cap, no cost, I tried to tell him it was old and probably (heck I know it was) my fault it broke, didn't care he sent it anyway. I talked to him Monday it arrived Thursday. I understand that I didn't break the company for the tube but the service I received was worth more than I can ever repay. Now I'm glad I've been buying their products all along, and will continue to do so. Yep CSB. |

so their new tubes dont require a clamp?? post pics of the differences...and what is the koolaid theory behind not using a clamp?? Yeh, I'd lke glass of koolaid too. curious as well... too bad my clamp already has "dedicated" markings on my barrel now |

The “indent” (and the balance of the tube now being thicker) both keep the clamp from sliding under recoil and helps you place the clamp back in the same place every time you reassemble the gun. The thicker tube is relativity stronger, especial around the threaded nut and cap area than the previous Nordic tubes (which were already the best tubes going IMHO)
As far as the “koolaid” some folks think that using a clamp between the mag tube and barrel might impart force on the barrel and affect its POI so every time you take off the clamp and mag tube for cleaning etc. the gun “might” shoot to a different POI when reassembled (most noticeable when shooting slugs). The flip side of not using a clamp to steady the long extended mag tube is that you run an increased chance of damage to the gun's tube and extension with that unsupported weight / leverage hanging out there.
