Howdy everyone.

I have a Mossy 500 with a pistol grip collapsible stock, I think its an ATI brand. The issue I am having is when I go to break the action open I have to take my right hand off the firing controls and cant the weapon to my left. That is the only way to hit the button as it is quite small. Does anyone make an extended slide release button to help with this issue?

Or.

Should I ditch that stock for a standard stock or for something different? I bought this gun from a buddy and it had this stock on it.

I ditched the pistol grip stock on my 590 for a regular stock because the slide release and safety were both way easier to use with the regular stock.

That's what I am finding. I really like the pistol grip but can't access the controls.

I like the 500 in general, but the control layout that makes it so convenient with a regular stock doesn't work great with a pistol grip stock.

I've not heard of anybody making an aftermarket slide release button for the 500 series.

Us that use the pistol grips just deal with it.   I don't need that function to be fast, just work. So taking my hand off isn't a concern for me. Neither is the safety. The safety is my finger.

Not an option I'm willing to do right now. I have enough invested in this gun and like how its set up.

Well I looked in my parts bin and I have the original synthetic stock that came with the gun. I will install it this weekend and play around with it.

Anyone else have any suggestions on a replacement stock?

+1 on the Hogue, quick access to the action release might be important if doing a slug changeover.

This is why I want to either find an extended release or a different stock.
