Ive taken a few weeks to convert a 1970s 870 bird gun into a simple HD shotgun.  Hogue furniture, barrel length 18.5, 2 shot extension from Wilson, ghost ring sights, flashlight, etc.
She shoots good and looks to perform well in the intended role.
My problem is the barrel and frame are blue, and worn with some scratches and the extension is matt black and she just like a collection of parts rather than a the aesthetically  pleasing HD gun like the photos I've seen here.

Im thinking cerakote or just a simple parkarized finish.  Can anyone recommend a refinisher.  My local smiths are not really shotgun guys and have offered to reblue the whole gun but I'm looking for something sexier.

Thanks

If you want it parkerized, look at AI&P tactical's refinishing service. JD has a great reputation and specializes in 870s.

The perfect finish and all that is needed. AI&P (J.D. McGuire) is the guy to call.

I can personally speak to the quality of JD and his work. I bought a parkerized 18" barrel and mag tube extension from him several months ago and spoke with him over the phone on several occasions. He is an honest speaking, hard working individual who takes pride in his craft. The finish on the barrel and extension was awesome. Definitely recommend JD.

Adco Firearms is another option.  $95 for the shotgun.

You can't go wrong with Cerakote - that stuff is incredible - it's more corrosion resistant and requires less maintenance than parkerizing. Not to mention you have a cornucopia of colors to choose from.
