Are there any plans or is anyone making duckbill spreaders for Ithaca mod 37's

Great Lakes Arsenal used to make and install a reproduction of the Ithaca SEAL duckbill, but this was 12-15 years ago.  They have since gone out of business.  While they look very cool and do actually create a horizontal pattern, this effect does not last long. The top and bottom prongs spread open very quickly, causing the shot pattern to open vertically.

The original version did have a problem of spreading and changing shape after a lot of use.
The Navy re-designed it to add a ring on the end to prevent this.
It did slightly reduce the spreading effect but the device lasted longer.

These devices were to be used with #4 buckshot.  Larger shot didn't work well.

As above, no one seems to be making any type of spreader device these days.
One reason is that use of such a device probably has no place as a normal defense gun and the police would be instantly sued for using something that spread shot wildly.  For home defense the spreading pattern would put any neighbors at risk of loose pellets.
Even with a shotgun, you're legally responsible for each pellet.

In any case, it's moot because no such device seems to be available.
