I've been thinking about adding a coach gun to my collection.  Mostly just a collection piece as stated and only occasional range time.  Given the amount of expected use I want to keep the price down but I of course still want reliable quality.  Right now my eye is on a Stoeger Coach Gun Silverado in 12ga.  Anyone have one, shot one, etc....  What are you experiences with it.  Other recommendation welcome too, looking to keep it under $500.

I have a basic model Stoeger Coach Gun and have no complaints other than its action was very stiff when new and tough to break open.  This improved with a little use.  The gun has a healthy kick, but otherwise has been a perfectly good, stout and well-made shotgun.  I regard it as a good value for those like me who "need" a double barreled gun but don't want to spend a fortune.  From what I have seen of this one model I'd say the company's products are good to go.

My stoeger= sometimes wont fire one barrel. Then one day the forearm started falling off every time I fired it. I strechted the forearm spring, seems to work for now. It's OK, but not something I'd trust my life with.

Try a Remington Sparton or a Baikal coach gun. They're made in Russia and are tough as nails. I like that they are chrome-lined which makes cleaning a breeze.

My stoeger Coach gun has been great. Definitely has a bit of a snap to it when you fire I have one with double triggers, its a ton of fun and always a good conversation starter at the range. Definitely look into a good recoil pad though

Rossi made a good one too, if you can find one.  I had a Stoeger as a backup.  They are good, lots of competitors use them with no problems.

I got an old Stevens 3xx series SxS. Chrome lined barrels. Hardly used. Very good price. Less the $200.
I cut the barrels down to 18 1/2" and cleaned it up a bit. Shoots great. It's my go to gun. Just something to think about.
Don't get me wrong, Stoeger makes a fine shotgun. I also have a M2000 I use for 3-gun.
