Just picked up a Maverick model 88 12GA. 20" barrel with extended mag tube. I know it's pretty much the same as a M500 but what aftermarket goodies can be used on it? This thing was brand new in the box and I only paid 115.00 for it.

Hell of a price. I paid more then that for mine. I dunno about accessories. I just put an elastic shell holder on the stock and a cheap little rail on the tube for a flashlight. Good advice. I like a sling on mine, but keep it simple. Buy some cheap birdshot for practice, try different slug and buckshot loads for defense. |
| Been Shotgunning for some time now (30 years) and have had my share of 500s in the past so I am very comfortable with them. I mainly have 870s and s12s but I saw the 88 and at that price, I had to have it. The forend appears to be non replaceable like on the 500 but the stock should be replaceable with anything that fits the 500. For the forend, it looks as if I will need to replace the the entire assembly (action bars and mount) to say have a tri railed forend on it. I was looking for anyone that may have knowledge on this. It's begging for 590 type ghost ring sights. BTW this is the Model 88 Security 8 shot version. Forgot to add that. |

Most any Mossberg accessory will work. Truth be told I like the maverick safety better and ran those til I got my 870. May get another one for a trunk gun. I like Spectergear slings. They come with the GG&G adapter plate.
