A relative wants me to try to fix his Mossberg 5500.  It has sentimental value as it was his fathers.  There is very little information that I can find on the shotgun.  Apparently, it wasn't produced very long (not a good sign) and was revised to the "5500 Mk II" and then the 9200.

There is a vendor called Havlin Sales that has parts for obsolete Mossbergs.  At this point in my inspection of it, it is missing the recoil spring and the operating handle.

Does anyone have any experience with this model?  Any information to share?

I found a pdf of the 5500 Mk II manual, but I don't know the difference, if any, between them.

Don't know the diff between the 5500 & the Mk II version (which I have).
Havlin Sales is GTG, I've bought a few replacement parts from them.

I'll hazard a guess but the recoil spring & operating handle off the 9200 might be the same exact part.

Havlin Sales are very good.  Good communications, fast shipping.

Thanks,

The parts appear identical.  If nothing else then I guess that I could just call Havlin and ask......

The operating handle coming off seems to be a common problem.  The shotgun handles well, but feels cheap.

Thanks for responses.

Very friendly and quick to ship my Moss 500 forearm a few months ago.
