If so, how do you like it? Has felt recoil been reduced in your opinion? |

Felt recoil is not diminished by a great amount. That's not the largest benefit of a Vang Comped barrel. He 'backbores' the chamber area of the barrel, this in essence elongates the chamber. That leads to the shotgun shell opening up fully, which accounts for less pellet deformation, and tighter patterning. I used a Hans Vang shotgun to finish a shotgun class when my Benelli M4 decided it didn't need the second piston and went fins up. His 870 fully decked out, patterned better than my Benelli, and had less recoil allowing for faster follow up shots. I sent him my 870P, had him backbore and port it, and added some LPA sights. He did an excellent job on it. |
| I had a Mossberg 500 and later a Rem 870 modified with the the VCS. I think you can now get similar Buckshot patterns with a Patternmaster choke or Federal flite control ammo with an unmodified barrel. I only had porting on the Mossberg and it helped a little. I get similar patterns on my Benelli supernova using Federal low recoil Flite control compared to my old 870 with the VCS,. |
