Greetings,
I bought a well used Mossberg 500 a few weeks ago. The shotgun had dual pistol grips and a heat shield, both factory from what I believe. I have since removed the heat shield. I ordered a buttstock from a fellow member and received it today. The stock was missing the stock bolt, which I knew when buying. being the cheap person I am, I was going to buy one online when Midway had them back in stock for 3 buck. However an idea hit me, bring the pistol grip screw to Lowes and find a steel bolt. I found a 3/16in bolt that was 6 inch. I got it home and discovered it was about 1/2 to 3/4 inch to long. I added some washers and BAM, the stock fits perfectly with no damage to the receiver due to the "foreign" bolt. Thought I would pass this along to the budget minded shooter. The bolt @ Lowes was $1.29 +tax Enjoy, Craig |
