I'm not a patient man, I hate waiting for anything. I plan to have my barrel for my Mossberg worked over and want to know what the turn around time is.

I looked in the FAQs on the site and it refers you to a page dedicated to this subject, but alas...I cannot find that page.

Anyone had work done there recently?

I have not, but turn around time is going to be different from week to week depending on the volume of work they have pending.  Calling is the best way to get an idea.   They know how busy they are this month, this week and want is backed up.  The person who talks to you will give you the long of it and you barrel will be back before that time and ready to mount and have a blast with.

How much difference can you expect with Vang Comp barrel over a standard one?  Is the change subtle or significant?

Everyone I've ever heard from  said it'[s the bee's knees. They advertise a 2 3/4 inch pattern at 15 yds and a 10 inch pattern at 25 yds. That's pretty freaking significant if you ask me.

VCS barrels provide the most benefit with high pellet count loads such as 1BK and 12 pellet 00BK.

As others have said the turnaround time will vary depending on their current workload and probably best to call and get a current estimate from them. Several years ago I sent in a barrel when he was running a Christmas special and I had the barrel back within two weeks including shipping time both ways.

Here are some patterning photos I took after patterning various brands of ammo.  Obviously the federal flight control round does a good job even in an unmodified barrel. I have since sold the shotgun with the barrel and purchased a complete Vang 870P about a year ago. The shot spread of all brands of ammo will be reduced significantly.

Regarding the reduction of felt recoil or muzzle rise by porting––-it is difficult for me to say if it is really that significant. Maybe 10%? Their quality and customer service is excellent. Another officer from our agency purchased a rail and had it mounted on an 870 receiver which was new but not purchased from VangComp.  The rail and/or receiver was out of spec and the rail did not sit flush with the receiver. Hans Vang ended up replacing the receiver at no charge for the officer since it could not be determined whether it was a gunsmithing issue or a problem with the original parts.  Customer service like that is all but unheard of these days.

Very nice. I can live with 2 weeks at Christmas. Now I have to wait for them to post their Christmas Specials.
