Gentlemen!

I'm about to pick up an HK marked Benelli M1s90 for $700.  I don't know much about shotguns other than the 500's we use for breaching.  Is this a good deal?  What should I be looking for? Issues, complaints, wear, etc?  Thanks in advance.

Standing by for mentoring.......

Also, will I be able to switch out the stock for a pistol grip stock like M2's and 3's?

The HK Marked Benelli's were imported up to 1997 by HK. I have a circa '96 Monetefeltro with the HK marking. The HK marked M1's tend to be a bit more desirable from what I gather.

Benelli did at one time make a pistol grip stock for the M1, so they are out there. I do not believe they are still in production, so you will have to find one on the used marked, although NIB ones pop up from time to time.

As far as the gun itself, from what I have seen / read, they are held high. The only issues that I have heard of is them not cycling lighter loads (Walmart bulk pack bird shot), and this was only on certain guns. I did read someplace that they were sold with 2 different recoil springs, and that if you have a stiffer spring, they wont cycle the lighter loads, But I cannot remember where I saw this, so it might be BS. I personally have no issues with my shoty, and I only run the lighter stuff through it.

Mine has been 100% reliable, and I know other people's are as well. See if you can fire the gun with the lighter loads (if thats what you intend to shoot with it) and see how it goes.

Price wise, $700 is ok, although I have seen better deals than that, and I have also seen much higher prices as well. FWIW, I paid $550 out the door for mine, and the sticker was originally $600.

Me personally, I would love an M1 Super 90, but I would not spend the $700. Maybe 600 if it is mint, but then again, I don't need another shoty ATM.

If anybody else would like to chime in and give more info, feel free.

I think Mesa Tactical is making a pistol grip stock (and a shorter LOP buttstock), and one of them may fit an M1 Super 90.  Worth looking into.

Ok thanks for the reply's guys.  I think I'm going to pass on it.  It seems a nice shotgun, but by the time I add what I want on there, I might as well have bought a M2 or better.  Appreciate the help.
