| Since I have come to respect most of the members of this boards opinions, I need to know you what shotgun you would recommend and why for a first time buyer to purchase for home defense. Keep in mind that I have a limited budget and would like the most for my dollar. |
| Remington 870 HD model #25077 is the best vaule you can find. 18.5" bead sight barrel, Remington LE 2 shot extension for a 6+1 capacity, Speedfeed LE forend and Remington synthetic rear stock. You can find these about anywhere for $320 to $330 and if you buy before December 31st you get a $30 cash rebate from Remington. |
| You are getting good advice, I have a Rem 870 and the Mossberg 500. As a lefty I love the safety on the Mossberg, but it's a little long in the stock. The 870 is a for hunting and it is the go to shotgun, older than dirt, minimal cleaning but shoots like a dream. I say handle them both, pick the one based on comfort- |

Just remember buying a gun for home defense is like buying fire insurance, you hope you'll never need it...but you want it to work for you if you do. Whatever you decide on get some professional training with it and go to the range as often as you can. Rob |
