The local fun store has one for cheap and I am thinking about replacing my mossberg 590.
Those who have shot one or have one i have a couple of questions. How reliable are they with cheap bird-shot, ease of breakdown for cleaning any good reliable mag extensions available any known problems with them? |

Benellis........considered the best or one of the best.
They are extremely reliable, Benellis are known for that......very easy to break down and clean.......only 2 companies I would trust for mag extensions if I could not find a factory one(going to pay some big bucks there, they used to go for like $70 but Benelli was told by the BATF to stop selling them...what ever is out there is it....last time I saw on at a fun show it went for $350) Daves metal works or nordic components. The M2s are inertia driven, I have heard for years not to hang a bunch of shit of the benellis as this may cause an issue. I for one have never had an issue and have had extened mag, scope rail, side saddle with ammo, and a red dot on top......ALL my benellis ate everything I fed them. I currently run a Benelli M2 tactical and will never sell it. Benellis are considered the best for a reason. There is no comparison between a Mossberg and a Benelli |

I bought a new M2 tactical a few months ago. I didn't have a chance to shoot it until a few weeks ago and it refused to cycle light loads. I was shooting the 100 round value pack dove loads that WalMart sells. I then asked on some of the boards what was the deal and the universal answer was to fire heavy loads through it for a couple hundred rounds to break in the recoil spring. That was also the answer I received from Benelli customer service.
Fast forward to last night. I shot 125 rounds of a mix of 2 3/4" heavy field loads, 3" mag steel shot duck/goose loads, and full power 2 3/4" 00 buck loads. It fired every one of the 125 without a hiccup. I didn't fire any light loads last night to see if it would cycle them. As this point, I don't really care if it cycles light loads or not. I bought the gun for HD purposes and I don't plan on being attacked by a flock of sparrows! My recommendation would be to not try any of the reduced recoil 00 buck loads. They weren't designed for auto loaders, and at least initially in my M2, it wouldn't cycle them. I bought several boxes of the Wolf 00 buck, and the Winchester Ranger Full Power 00 buck and both of those cycle perfectly in the gun. You need the extra energy of a full power load to cycle the inertia recoil of the M2 (at least during the "break in" period). YMMV. (Edited to add) I've got a DMW extension tube and a Nordic mag tube clamp installed. The DMW tube is awesome and the finish matches the barrel. The DMW just screws into the end of the Benelli extension tube nut allowing you to still utilize the Benelli sling attachment. Taking the gun apart is a breeze but each time I've taken it apart, it was hard to find anything to clean! This is the cleanest shooting firearm I've ever owned. |

well I said screw it and took in the mossberg and traded it in towards the M2.
I got a really good deal on it that i couldn't pass up. It was marked $699.00 new I ended up only paying $399 plus tax. not to mention the $150 factory rebate going on right now on M2 tacticals I cant wait to get out there and ring this puppy out, it is way lighter then I thought and I am looking at the Nordic components mag extensions for the 3 gun matches. |

I have the comfortech stock......yes you can definately tell a difference, that said I run my M2 with the tactical stock....so the comfortech sits in the safe....if interested shoot me an IM I can make you a good deal.
did you say that your FFL has New Benelli M2s marked at $699?? |

got out and shot the M2 for a little bit, and it was nice not having to pump for once.
It ate everything I put in it; high brass #6's, 3" steel #2's and yes even the cheap federal bulk #7.5 stuff. The gun recoiled more then I was expecting but was more then manageable and the 3" steel spit out a good flame as well. It will take some time to get used to the rifle sights but overall I am really happy with the M2 |

The M2 should be able to cycle just about any 12 ga ammo through it. My M1 cycled even 1 oz trap loads, till I had it pro-ported. The reduction of recoil from the pro-porting now won't allow it to fully kick out a fired shell - it extracts but won't eject. No big deal, as I can hand cycle it if I want to fire out cheap load, and it's a buckshot gun anyway.
Can't go wrong with the M1/M2 series. |

Ok I finally got out and really run this thing, and man am I impressed.
I could get 6 rounds off quicker and way more accuratly then the mossy. I will have to practice reloads alittle more but I was faster then I though I was gonna be. Buckshot shot well out it and I didnt have any problems with the bulk walmart 7.5 ammo. I could see gettinga a extra barrel and taking this thing out for dove/ducks/quail/phesasent, as it points well and it fast to bring up and swing around. The only 2 down sides to the gun 1) needs a magazine extension for 3 gun. yes it came with a factory 2 shot but more is better. 2) the rifle sights will take some getting used to, but that is a training issue and not really a fault of the M2 Overall I am really glad I picked up the M2 and now have my buddy looking for one for himself. |
