Okay, so I bought an older Benelli Montefeltro the other day and I'm going to be using it for clays on Sunday. My local sporting shop is running a sale on the Winchester AA Trap loads. I am pretty sure they will cylse the gun fine, as my buddy has an M2 that cycles anything he feeds through it, which is typically the Walmart Winchester 100 round value packs. I just want to make sure nobody has had an issue with this combanation before i go and buy a case or two as the price is really low.
Thanks allot ETA: The gun is intertia driven, that's why I'm asking. |

I actually misread the sale. The ones that were on sale were some light 7/8 oz Remington loads. They were out and i didn't buy any. I am going up to Walmart though tomorrow to see what I can find as they usually have good prices, if I can get the ammo that is, seeing as there is usually nobody in the department.
On a side note, I had a Supernova and my friend has an M2. Between the 2 of us, we have probably feed about 5k rounds of the Winchester Universal shells with no issues at all. About 70% were through my gun though as he has less time to shoot. He bought the gun new and started with the Universal loads and didn't have any issues, and didn't "break in" the gun with the heavy loads. I will probably end up with the Federals as i have heard they are better and cheaper, but in the Universal's defense, I have not had any issues with them. Thanks allot guys |

Okay, Here's the news.
Went to the range today with 50 left over Winchester universal shells and 200 federal shells, all 8-shot value pack ammo. The gun received a full cleaning when it got home on Friday. Went to the range, shot all the shells I brought and about 2 dozen Remington that my cousin had for his gun. Gun ran like a champ, cycled perfectly and no issues. I did have one stovepipe though cause my cousin tried to shoot from the hip. All in all, it went well, lots of smiles and grins. I did notice that the Winchester ammo was allot dirtier then the federal, but i did not notice a difference in performance to be honest. Looks like federal is going to get my money now instead of Winchester, due to the difference in powder residue. Just wanted to let you guys know the end result, and thanks allot for the help. |
