my buddy gave me his rem 1100 12 ga in 2 different ziplock bags.  he broke it.  i replaced part 48 the fore end support assembly because it was broken.  what i'm guessing is the breach block (not in parts diagrams) was not attatched.  this part would sit on top of the magazine cylinder inside of the receiver and partially cover the top of the magazine follower.   this part looks like it was previously glued or soldered on.  how do i reattach this piece?  am i missing something, a piece to hold it in?  i am also gonna have to stake his feed latch.  but what are friends for? right                  thanks

Are you talking about this block on top of the magazine tube. If so, I believe it's soldered on, and I bet it's an expensive factory fix. Or at least a highly skilled gunsmith. But I'm no expert. I'm sure someone in the know will be along shortly.

That is the barrel support and it is considered part of the receiver.   I recommend factory repair on this part.   The reason is that it is braised on and so is the mag tube that it sits on and if you get in there with a torch you can heat the braising on the mag tube.  when that mag tubes moves out of perfect alignment, well, that weapon is FUBAR and it will have to go to the factory anyway.  Also that support has to be aligned perfectly also.

You may find a true gun smith in your area who can do it correctly but I would still say "Factory".  The factory has a special process that will attach that without the excess heat and everything will be in perfect alignment.
