Hey all, some minor questions here from a hopefully soon to be first time shotgun owner.

For those who own any of the 18" versions here:

http://www.remingtonle.com/shotguns/1187.htm

1. Does the magazine tube extend beyond the barrel or not?  I keep finding pictures online that show it differently.

2. Is the Improved Cylinder choke in there changeable or is it fixed?

Thanks a lot!

All police barrels are fixed choke.  The Barrel is 18.5 not 18 and the Remingotn LE tube ends flush with the barrel.

Do you know if Rem makes an 18.5 in either cylinder bore (so I can get it choked) or rem choke, in that same finish?  I'm essentially trying to build a gun similar to a Tac 2 or 1187P that I can also bust clays with should the mood strike me, without needing a barrel change.

Bump- thoughts?  I can't stand how esoteric Remington makes their site- there is no central way to view all the barrels they make.  Even Cabela's and Midway don't make it perfectly clear.

Why this industry can't ever f*&%g modernize and get with the times, I'll never understand...

I have an early 1187P that has the factory "longer" barrel, I believe it's +/- 22" IIRC, but it also has a longer mag tube, hold 1 one round then the 18.5" 1187P.  So they may have used the longer mag tube on the 18.5" barreled 1187, that would make it extend a bit beyond the barrel, possibly.

Pretty simple to chage the barrel out; even with the 22" it's going to be a weak trap shooter if Fred next to you is using a 28" or 30"

JP (aippi) has a couple 11-87P barrels for sale on Gunbroker right now.  As for the choke, I think you are either stuck with the IC, or possibly you could send it to Guncat and have it threaded for Rem chokes
