Can a "regular" barrel be put on one of these?  I saw one in a shop and it looks nice but I think it was a fixed choke.  I have a spare barrel already but do not want to buy the gun if I cannot do this.

Edit.  Surely someone here knows the answer to this.

You can install a “regular” 870 barrel on that “Light Contour” gun. The barrel  thickness / weight (and maybe the forearm* ) is the only difference  in the Light Contour gun vs. the standard.

* On the 11-87 adding a standard barrel to a Light Contour gun would require opening up the forearm's barrel channel just a bit. I don't remember this being an issue with the 870.

Keep in mind that you will need to know both the receiver size and chamber length of each barrel / receiver combination ** to know if you can safely shoot 3” shells, obviously 2 3/4” shells will be OK any way you go.
