I am looking for rifled barrel for my 870 express i can mount a scope on too. looking around the net and they seem pricey, thinking i may be better off just buying a new slug gun. Does anyone know where there is a good deal on rifled barrels for an 870?

Cabela's has the fully rifled canterlever barrel with a Bushnell scope mounted on it for about $250.00.

Right now you're in the middle of deer season so don' t expect any bargains.  Wait till after the first of the year and start scouting around.  You may find one on close out.

Yes, they can be spendy.  Not entirely sure why, but they have never been cheap.

I would check with Remington.  I was surprised but they have some of the best prices on their own barrels.

Lower production item I would think. Most people buy their shotguns for defense or hunting with shot.

If you need to fire slugs accurately now, you can just buy some rifled slugs (as compared to sabot slugs) and use them in a smoothbore.

Sabot slugs are more accurate than Rifled (foster) slugs.

Not out of a smooth bore.  However Foster type slugs might be accurate enough depending on the ranges he needs.  Personally, I have a smoothbore with rifled choke tube and with Brenekes, I'm comfortable to 125yrds.  Around here, you'd be hard pressed to find a straight line longer than that.
