I just bought a Beretta Xtrema2 with a 26" barrel and took it out to Arkansas to shoot some ducks. The gun has the Kick Off system installed and I could feel no recoil with 3" #6 Hevi-Shot loads. Impressed with the Kick Off system I picked up some 3 1/2" shells to see how the KO would tame these. I could tell absolutely no difference in the felt recoil from the 3" shell to the 3 1/2" shell. I was simply amazed.

I have a Mossberg pump with a 20" barrel I use for turkey hunting. With an extra full choke and 3" #4 Winchester Extended Range shells it patterns very good. I already had plans to pick up another barrel for the Xtrema2 and get it cut to 18.5" just to have but after seeing how well it shoots 3 1/2 shells I find myself wanting to use it for turkey hunting and get rid of my Mossberg. I really like a short barrel for turkey hunting and I know I could get another barrel for the Beretta and get it chopped at 20" and be safe pattern wise for turkeys. I was wondering though if I went with my original plan and got it cut to 18.5" drop in an extra full turkey choke and shot Winchester Extended Range 3 1/2 #4's what kind of pattern I would get or if I just need to stick with a 20" barrel.

So the question of the day is: Has anyone shot a gun with an 18.5" barrel, extra full choke, and 3 1/2" #4's (any brand)  that could give me a general idea on how it patterns at various ranges? I understand that unless I shot the exact load out of the exact size barrel, with the exact choke I would have no real idea of how it would pattern but I was just wondering if I could get a general idea.

Thanks Guys.
