I have a tac star mag extension I put on my 870.  After the barrel is put back on it seems like there aren't many threads left to screw on the extension.  How tight are you supposed to tighten the extension?  I didn't wanna over tighten it and break it!

There were enough threads for the mag cap so there should be enough for the extension.  870 receivers have been coming short.  The mag tube should be 11.5 but have been coming 11 3/8 and even less.  This has been preventing me from using the after market sling plates such as the Wilson Combat, however, the tubes have enough thread for any mag cap or extension.  I have never seen the extension you are refering to but again, there was enough thread for the oringinal mag cap so your mag tube coupling should fit,  It needs to fit tight so give it all your hand will give but do not use any tupe of wrench.  Also, make sure the barrel is seating all the way to the ledge in the receiver.

I tighten it with my hands as tight as I can get it and then give it a little bit of a twist with channel locks just to be sure that its on there.

Thanks guys, appreciate it!

JD I had thought about that too, if I was going to put a plate in there for a sling that there wouldn't be enough.
