[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Winchester 1200 problem

A friend asked me to look at his Winchester 1200, because sometimes the slide wont stay locked foward when you rack it. I tightened down the barrel nut a little tighter and it helped but it still wont stay locked sometimes. Any ideas or thoughts is there a common wear part that might need replacing?

im not in any way shape or form a professional, but id say check out the action bars, and the action release. those are the 2 things that make it lock and unlock...

Does the fire control group need to have old oil and other dirt washed out of it?

the slide release button may be sticking, rack it and look at the button It may be sticking in the up position, I had one do that, it wasnt gunked up, slightly bent for some reason, I bent it back slightly and 7 years later no probs.
