I got my replacement 930SPX barrel yesterday from the people down at Eagle Pass.  I was victim of the tilted front sight that is common with this model.  Anyone who is still waiting on one call and ask to speak to Juan.  He is the supervisor there and gets things done.  My question is, should I expect more from them, or settle for what I've got?  The sight on the new barrel is mounted on something like a pedestal thats about 1/8th inch thick.  The sight itself is straight, but when I assembled the gun and laid it upside down on the rear and front sight (if the sights are aligned, the "wings" on the front and rear sight should all touch the flat surface), its about 1/16th" off.  There is a gap on one side where they mounted it:

No Gap

Gap

I can get my fingernails under the sight, thats how much of a gap there is.  I can also slide a piece of paper under that front corner, its just empty space.   Also, there are some scratches on the front of the barrel that looks like the barrel was rotated in the jaws of a vice or pliers which have started to rust.  So should I call Mossberg back and demand a better barrel, or am I nitpicking at this point and I should just live with what I got?

Your making me worry about my 930spx that I shipped back to them to fix the front sight issue.  Fed ex just dropped it off at Mossberg, and they wanted me to send my whole gun back, not just the barrel.

I hope they don't F$%^ it up somehow or it will be going right back to them on their dime again.

BTW, my front sight was off 1/8" and I could not get slugs to zero at 50y.

I have mine boxed (barrel only) and sending it in today to Eagle Pass. From the looks of the replacements people are getting I wonder if they are just taking old sights off and remounting them?
If I were you I'd take it out and see how it shoots and sights in. If it's ok then just fill the gap with epoxy. Thats probably how they are attaching them anyways.

I called them today and after arguing with them (they thought the "gap" I was describing was the pedestal the sight is mounted on and they help trying to tell me "thats how they come from the factory now") and having to send those pics to the supervisor there to get my point across, Juan (the supervisor) agreed that was unacceptable and he would send me a new barrel that did not have that issue.  Hopefully they get it out today so I can have it by tomorrow.

Hopefully Mossberg won't pawn your bad barrel on me

He gets things done alright, he sent me crooked sight barrel #2.  As for living with it or sending it back, you should shoot it and decide if it will acheive its intended purpose. If it wont sight in, it becomes an expensive club
