How close is point of impact to point of aim when shooting slugs thru your 18"-20" smooth bore barrel ? I'm having problems with a new 870 which is impacting 3.5"-6" (depending on which slug) right of point of aim. The local Remington fix it center seems to think all is well, I will call the Mother Ship (Remington) in the morning and see what they say, but this gun isn't much good to me as is. |

Yes it has a bead sight, I have been shooting it of a bag. I have a good deal of experience with shotguns and slugs and this is a gun issue. I spoke with Remington early this morning and it was very positive (to my suprise) he agreed it was unacceptable and asked the gun be sent in for work. It is enroute at this time. I will let you know how this works out. Thanks for the input. |
| My 870 has an 18" cylinder bore barrel. It shoots groups of about 4" to 6" diameter at 100 yards using slugs (sabot or Brenneke) and they are right on the point of aim (considering the drop over the distance). I consider 6" groups at 100 yards from a smooth bore as acceptably sized groups. As they confirmed for you, groups that far off at that close distance means something is wrong. |
