I recently picked up a used 11-87 Premier with a slug barrel to turn into a quasi 11-87P. My plans are to mod the shotgun as follows:
18" 11-87P barrel with fixed I/C choke & bead sight Remington 1100 Competition Master Carrier Assembly Choate or DMW Extended Bolt Handle Factory +2 Magazine Extension I am aware that I have to remove the dimples in the magazine tube to allow the +2 extension, and to use the old-style retainer & magazine cap if I want to go to a normal magazine capacity. My question is if I do switch back to the normal capacity, is there any way to keep the magazine cap secure? On the 870, there is a detent on the barrel ring which prevents this. Is there a piece of hardware that would function like this, or am I SOL? |

Hey 556A2,
What does the 1100 Competition Master Carrier Assembly do for you? I just put a speedfeed IV on my 1187 and does very well with 00 Buckshot. Other than an 8 round mag extension and a single point sling what else can be done? I like the bead sights. Thanks, Shok |

Thanks, Shok 1100 Competition Master Carrier The 1100 CM Carrier has a much larger bolt release compared to the standard carrier on 1100s & 11-87s. Another popular option is the Dave's Metal Works Easy Loader, but I passed on that due to it being harder to install & reports of roll pins breaking. |

I know Brownells sells a cap retainer adapter washer that allows you to use the external ball-detent caps in lieu of the internal ball detent caps (or is it vice versa?) but I couldn't find it quickly with their site search.
If I remember I'll look it up in the print catalog. |
