I ordered a police spec magazine spring for a 870 Express 4 shot. I thought it would be a good idea to get a better follower as well.

Im guessing this follower wont work with the magazine dimples in the 870?

The follower shouldn't be affected by the dimples as long as you're just using it as a 4-shot magazine. If you decide to install an extension, then you'll have to remove the dimples. The Wilson follower is a good one either way.

But can it slide past the dimples to install it?

It only goes in one way and out one way.

Okay...now I understand the question. No, it will probably not go past the dimples for installation. You could always take a Dremel or a file and "notch" it on each side so the notches will slide past the dimples. Sorry for the previous misunderstanding.

The follower is plastic and not a real tight fit in the tube, so you might be able to *pop* it down past the dimples.
