Took my 870P to the range today to do some pattern testing. Hadnt had this one out of the safe in a couple years at least. It has an 18.5" Cylender bore Brl.

Patterns were shot at 25-Yards.

Hornady TAP (blue) low recoil 8-pellet 00:  12" pattern with poor density. two pellets clumped togather at 11 O'Clock. one pellet at 6 o'clock. The remaining 5 pellets stayed in the shotcup and struck at four o'clock.  I have noticed this same issue with TAP buckshot in other shotguns in the past. The pellets do not always seperate from the wad/shotcup.

Federal LE133 00 8-pellet 00 (Pre-flight control): 12" pattern with great even distribution of the pellets.

Federal "flight control" 9-pellet 00: 7 1/2" slightly oblong pattern.

Win Ranger low recoil 9-pellet 00: 15 3/4" pattern with noticable donut hole effect.

I'll be using the LE 133 00 in this shotgun for now.

How many rounds of each did you shoot? Patterning a shotgun is like shooting a rifle, one round doesn't tell you much.

I use the Federal 9 pellet LE 00Buck, and it gives me about a 9 inch spread at 25 yards out of my 870.
