My dad passed away recently, and I was really happy to get his old Mossberg 500. I remember it as a kid (6 years Old) when he brought it home. He even kept the original receipt from 1976, paid $119.00 for it. Anyway, I dont think it was ever cleaned through the years, so I tore it down and oiled/cleaned her up, actually really good therapy for me. Anyhow, here she is, 30 plus years old. Anyone seen one like this with the engraving on the side? It says "Country Squier" on the side, and for police use on the barrel.

Wow. I've never seen such a nice Mossy. Didn't know they had it in them to make a pretty piece.

I'm sorry about your father. I'm sure his shotgun will make a memorial for years and years to come.

That's a nice looking one.  I have one that was passed down as well.  Mine also has engraving on it, but it doesn't say anything.  Here it is with a 28" barrel on it, I also picked up a 18.5" barrel for it.  I will get some better pics of it.

edit - new pics further down

I got the same gun in 20ga. Although mine is 19 years newer. I think they called it "Crown Grade" or something when I got mine. Can't remember for sure as I was only about 12 when my old man bought it for me. You've got a real nice example there.
